econ major - doable w/o econ background?

i signed up as an econ major but i havent taken any econ classes in high school? will this be a huge disadvantage or does the NU econ program cover everything from the start for complete newbies to econ? also ive been told that econ is heaavy on math. would that just consist of stats?

bump anyone? pleease

i think you could do it, i'd say though that its a question of if you actually like econ. Go onto the NU website and look for the econ dept, there should be a courselist and a list of required classes, that might help you a bit

You can do any major without any background. You have to take the econ intro classes here if you haven't tested out with APs, and they are filled with freshmen. They provide solid groundwork for later econ classes. At least in the intro classes, the math we needed was taught to us. There was no advanced calc or anything.
