economic problems. darn it..

Hey guys.!
I am planning to apply for CAS in NYU.
NYU has been my idol univ. since I enrolled middle school.
well it's a long story.

Anyways,
I'm getting worried about all those expensive tuitions.
And I don't want to rely on my parents after the graduation since
it costs too much. (Also, I have a little brother who's looking forward to Oxford. Their tuition was pretty expensive too.(Dang it!))

How do you guys manage your finances?
Are getting full scholarships or financial aids easy in NYU?
Is this stat safe or satisfactory for CAS? (m800; cr700; wr760)
I'm sorry for asking so many questions but i'm getting tired.

P.S.
Is premed in NYU competitive to get in?
...just wondering.

1) yes, the stat is good, but thats hardly enough to go on. there are way more factors than an sat score that go into a college decision.

2) no nyu apparently gives really crappy financial aid/scholarships. but if youre amazing you might get the 25k cas scholarship. you will not get a full scholarship.

3) everything at nyu is competitive. but again, you only gave us one stat to look at.

Go to fastweb .com. There's information about different scholarships. Now, none of these are NYU-specific... but it's helpful.

Your SAT scores look great for NYU... But what about your GPA? That's very important for NYU. At least, it is according to their website.

Dude, If you can't make money in New York City something is SERIOUSLY wrong.

It's worth it to apply, at least. I have the same situation as you, my sister is already in college and my mother just graduated from nursing school; they don't have money to give me. But, I did get a scholarship from CAS and as long as you spend a lot of time applying for LOTS of local scholarships, I think it's possible. Plus, student loans don't have to be paid back until after you graduate and they have a low interest rate. And you also go to college assuming that you will graduate with a degree that allows you to get a job that will then pay enough to stipend the cost of your education.

Although I can't make a qualified judgment especially just from your SATs, that score is EXTREMELY competitive for CAS and I think you will safely qualify for the Presidential Honors Program. As far as I know, people in this program have 100% of his or her need covered (doesn't say officially, but most of my friends in this program seem to have it that way).
