My S did this last summer and enjoyed the program. Think they just opened this years applications.
They only accept about 200 students each year but if your accepted your only cost is transportation and a small fee to hold your place.

im def. applying! looks great. i wish they had it cornell this year too though that way i couldve visited my one of my top choice schools and learned a lot too!

EFL is only for after your Jr year. Students who will be finishing sophomore year and are interested in leadership should be fighting to get into HOBY. Most high schools can nominate one student.

HOBY is highly selective (1 nomination per HS) and costs the student $ 0.00 - EFL and most other selective sumer programs charge a small fee to make sure that students don't just sign up for every program. Otherwise every program would be fill by the same 50 top students who may or may not really be planning to attend. A fee of up to $200 for a week including everything is a "are you serious - fee" and fully refundable as long as you give enough time so another student from the wait list can come.

For those that applied to Economics for Leaders, what do you think set you apart in your application. I just applied and I think this will be a great experience.

I’m assuming that its not THAT selective since they barely asked for any data and didn’t require a letter of recommendation/multiple essays, am I wrong?
