Just filled out my application! Got a letter in the mail from HOBY (Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership) as I am a WLC alumni and was interested immediately. I applied for:
Cornell
Ithaca
Coll. of William & Mary

*I applied with minimal research about the program, loved HOBY so much it didn't take a lot for me to be sold onto this program. I know it's significantly smaller (30-50 per site) and have seen sample agendas. Has anyone ever been to it? What's it like?
*Has anyone else applied yet?

The brochure I got from them says that, “students who are currently juniors in high school and will complete their junior year by this summer are eligible.” So, yes. Are you a sophomore? I strongly recommend HOBY! Check it out, hoby.org
It’s not economics/business but leadership oriented.

Thanks! I’m not sure what they look for specifically, but since I heard about them through a leadership program that they’re semi-partners with, I included examples of my leadership and how it reflected my style in which I lead.
I also wanted mine to “stand out” (like everyone else wants, haha) so I wrote mine inductively. I also had it read a bit like a story, so that it would flow nicely and used good transitions, etc.
750 words was a lot more than I expected it to be

I emailed them last week because my son didn’t include the code (the letter was in a pile on my desk when he did the application). They said the code was to track their marketing. They also said they’d be sending out acceptances “the week of March 28.” I see that all but one site is listed as CLOSED on the website … only two were listed as CLOSED on Monday. Must be coming soon!

Applied for Cornell, Vanderbilt, and UCal in that order. Was accepted today for Cornell.

I was excited at first but now i realized Cornell is also the most expensive! A little strange how the schools decide cost, but didn’t know in advance.

In the end, still only 1/10th the cost of NYLC or any other programs.

Still thinking about it, probably will end up going.

So I got accepted to the Economics for Leaders program but was accepted on the dates that LEEDS Business Leadership Program is running. I was wondering which one would be the best experience and which one is more prestigious. Which one would be more career/resume building?

Just a note, I do not come from a financially lacking background.
