Economics Major Question

Could I get the same job with an undergrad in economics and an mba with a specialization in finance as a person who majored in finance and had the same mba? I want to get into banking or something along those lines. Any answers would be greatly appreciated and I will take them into account. I'm stuck between 2 colleges. one has a finance major(New Paltz) and one has an economics major, but I like the school with the economics major better(Binghamton).

Yes, but I certainly wouldn’t set my heart on ibanking if you’re choosing between those schools.

yes i understand that these schools aren’t harvard quality, but thank you for answering the question. it makes me feel better about picking an economics major.

I know this is an old thread but could you guys help me out? I want to take up Econ as well… and I have to choose among http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/1321995-cmu-nyu-stern-ucla.html</a>… any suggestions?

Yes. There’s no cookie-cutter way to obtain jobs. Employers receive an infinite combination of majors/degrees, internships, employment history, undergrad/grad schools, and personal skills on resumes.
