ECs- will chance back!

Alright thanks! @grindboy‌

I think your EC’s are great and diverse, and even though some might think it’s “scattered”, as long as you express and show that it’s what you enjoy doing then you’re fine. Haven’t really come across someone who had TOO many EC’s and it backfired…
Chance back??

Your extracurriculars look great, they show a great range of skills and leadership positions to differentiate yourself from the flood of applications top-tier schools recieve. How do you believe your essay and recommendations will go? Those can make or break an application and I’ve personally seen quite overqualified students be turned down for average essays. That SAT score has to increase without a doubt, but try to focus on the sections which will be easiest to improve (Math and the Essay in my experience).

Like some people have mentioned, I think your ECs are fine but you should try to make sure that they are relevant to what you want to do. SAT is definitely on the low side but with some extra studying, you might be able to bring that up. Maybe check out Boston College, which is in a great area? Or perhaps low Ivies–HYP is definitely a reach though.

Okay thanks! Would love to chance you back just comment the link if you could please  @UCalBound‌

Thanks for the tips! @mylesparslow‌

Thank you! @screenname22‌

Thank you! @UCalBound‌

Your ECs are great! No college is expecting every applicant they admit to be working for the UN or publishing scientific reasearch left and right. Get that SAT up and you’ll be golden!

Haha thank you so much! @Qwerty568‌

Hey, thanks for replying to my thread.

Your ECs do seem to be more on the music side, which is totally OK. I think it’s good to have a bit of variety because practically of my ECs were music and that’s something I regret. One thing I would encourage you to do is to get as many leadership positions as possible because you don’t seem to have many. Other than that, keep up the good academic record and you should be aiming for some very good schools. If you use the Super Match feature on this website, you can put in many different factors ranging from GPA and test scores to school size and costs. It will give you a list of suggested schools based on your personal preferences and stats.

EC’s are ok because you have a good GPA.

Chance me back? Most recent thread [Pepperdine] made today

Okay thanks! I’m the president of two clubs (next year- vp this year) and the editor in chief of the yearbook; what other positions should I seek? I’ll look into the Super Match feature that sounds really cool! @GustavMahler‌

Thanks! @ItsHydro‌

I actually had a similar concern about having too many “scattered” ECs, but I found it helpful to almost visualize them as under several overall themes. For example, from what I’ve read, music definitely stands out as one of your passions. Another one might be community - your church council, Recycling Club, and Yearbook activities might fall more under this one. See? Your ECs aren’t that scattered at all! I would advise against writing an essay on all of your ECs though…or it will turn out boring and bland.

I think “how far up you can reach” will really depend on how high you can get your SAT at this point.

Thank you so much @OrchidBloom‌ this helped a lot!

No problem  Good luck!

You seem fine in terms of EC. I think you should raise your SAT(which you say you are working on) and then you could apply to WashU, Vanderbilt, Rice, Northwestern. For NE, try MIT. Ivies are a reach/high reach for you(just like they are for everybody), but good luck!

I dont think your ex’s are scattered. If you raise your says then you will be fine. Good luck!
