ED applicants

Does anyone know how many people applied ED this year? If not, does anyone have a guess as to whether it is more or less in comparison to previous years?

I'm assuming the pool is a bit smaller this year. There are a few reasons for this. First is that Brown's move to the common application won't attract more applicants for ED. Those who applied early would have filled out Brown's application anyway considering it's their first choice. Second is that our self-destructing economy deters mid-income students from applying ED. This way they can freely compare financial aid offers from multiple schools. Third and most importantly, Brown moved its decision release date forward 2 days. This probably signifies admission officers are less burdened than they were with last year's pool.

This is all conjecture, mind you.

I think Brown's move to the common application will force a rise in RD applicants, though.

brown is an exclusive use of the commonapp so all ED applicants filled it out....there is no "Brown Application"....there's just a supplement

Great observations dailypursuit. I was actually wondering why ED decisions were being released so early, I had always remembered them being released sometime between Dec. 13th and 16th. Thanks for the response.

Oh aand Brown dropped to number 16 on O.F.C.R. (Official Flawless College Rankings), so many people realize it is therefore not a good school anymore.
so that may reduce ed applicants.

That all means higher chances for us, right? Ranking Schmankings.

This is me. Putting hope. In God.

where can I see this fabled OFCR?

@ bicyclekick - Okay? Perhaps you missed the point of my post. I'm comparing this year's ED applicant pool to last year's. My argument is that Brown's switch to the common app won't affect the amount of applicants who apply ED.

@jusayswhat - I believe hembeck is talking about the USNews rankings.

sorry i missed that...i thought you meant that brown still has its own application....
