@meremere28 Yes, it is quite common for students to be admitted off the deferred list.
If she hasn’t already, I would encourage your daughter to reach out to her Regional Admissions Counselor and reiterate her desire to attend Wake Forest and update her scholastic and extra-curricular activities since she sent in her application. This will show her continued interest and there may be something in her course rigor, grades or volunteer activities that catches their eye.
I know this is difficult for your daughter, and for you. Keep the faith, stay positive and know that it will all work out for the best, regardless of outcome!
@blazinamazin2023 I would go ahead and send an email now, you may get an answer before the 1st. If you don’t, I believe you have until midnight on the 1st to get everything completed, so that should give you plenty of time to call that day and get the answer!
@WakeDad Thank you so much for the help! My counselor has not been the most helpful with college applications, so your help is much appreciated :). Do you know if early decision applicants can withdraw their application before the decision date (2/15) if needed?
@blazinamazin2023 It’s my pleasure! Since the ED cycles require a commitment, you are allowed to withdraw you application at any time, for any reason. You would need to contact the Admissions office directly and they will tell you what you need to do to withdraw. However, you will not get a refund of any fees you have paid to process your application.
My son applied back in August RD, his guidance counselor told him not to apply ED since he didn’t know how much aide he would get. He did interview and he met with his interviewer again when she visited his school on October. She actually remembered his name so he was impressed.
When did you get your RD decision, do they release in batches or all at same time?
The release date varies from year to year, with an intent to have all applicants notified by April 1st. Last year they were released on March 23.
All RD decisions are mailed at the same time. They come in letter form via United States Postal Service, aka “snail mail”. Acceptances are usually in an 8 x 11 sized envelope.
Yes, my daughter got an email this afternoon and then an email retracting the invite. Said they hit send button too soon. Not sure what this means in terms of possible admission.
@Doublekk2 my daughter applied early action this past summer and was deferred. I’m not sure about ED2 I’m
sorry! We got the email above and not sure if it means she’s accepted or who knows.
Thank you, @meremere28. Sorry to hear about the email confusion. This process is stressful enough for our hardworking students (and their parents) without mistakes like this. Best of luck to your daughter!
