ED class of 2022 discussion

@Hamurtle , just confirming that an email announcing the decision date will not come. Rather, applicants will be informed of an email on the same day that decisions are announced that they are to check their portals. Correct?

@Winky1 correct.

@krishnb Monday the 11th?

@zoompython Yes.

Well, honestly it would be reasonable to expect them on the 8th or the 11th. Nothing would be weird about either of those dates.

@krishnb I just feel like Dec 11th is really late for WashU, judging how last year was Dec 8th, and they had more time this year with an early due date you know?

@equinox19 last year they released on the 9th and they have released on the 11th twice in the last six years. The earliest they have released in the last six years is the 9th. Obviously I don’t know what they will do considering the change in deadline from the 15th to the 6th but I would think the 11th is highly likely.

College Kickstart just posted the ED dates on their blog. They have WU as mid December as the official released. Usually they update as they get the information for the earlier release date. I was hoping they would have a date by now. Darn!

@krishnb how positive are you that this guy knows about the undergraduate admissions?

Also I don’t think faculty or anyone associated with any university would be at liberty to say what the decision announcement date would be. I asked the same question indirectly to the person in charge of running the alumni interview event and he said ‘by 12/15.’

@Hamurtle I guess this means we just gotta keep waiting. These next few days are going to be painful!

I’m really scared you guys… to me deferral is equivalent to denial because I will be applying somewhere ED2. I’ve got my eyes and heart set on WashU for a long time now and I’m no stellar student. My Stats do not meet up to theirs and received a horrible grade in one of my classes for my quarter grades… do you guys think quarter grades make a big difference? I know they ask for them, but I’m just really terrified.

I think it won’t be the end of the world if your other grades are good and if the bad grade’s not in a class related to your major but then again I’m no admissions officer so I could be totally wrong. I’m also quite scared and feel the same way. I see deferral as a rejection but more so because I don’t think I can handle the rd round. I really hope I make it ed. Do you guys think I basically have no shot with being a full need student? I have good stats and am very passionate with my extra curriculars but I can’t help but think I’m for sure getting rejected due to my income.

Idk why I even asked that. I’m sure decisions have been made already and my posts not going to change anything except give me more anxiety for the next few days waiting

I’m not sure how long it takes for the admissions committee to come to a consensus on candidates, but considering the mid year report deadline was only last Friday, I think the decisions are likely going to come out later in the week, if not next week. If I’m posting a lot it’s because I need a break from refreshing my inbox.

@zoompython it was due the same day last year and came out 9 days later, so it’s up in the air

@reshawnhamilton , keep your head up! We have plenty of demonstrated need, too. The way I see it, you can’t change the financials that are on paper. Wash U looks for fit and proven ability. They also want a diverse student body, and they are working very hard on rounding out their student body. Economic diversity is 1 type of diversity, and they have plenty of funds to retain talented students with need.

Hi everyone! I’m new to CC. Applied ED to Wash U and I’m incredibly nervous. Just curious, what other schools are you guys planning on applying to if Wash U doesn’t work out? For me, I also really like Brown, Northwestern, Tufts, and Georgetown.

My D has an acceptance at the University of Pittsburgh , applied EA to Case Western Reserve, RD to Boston University and Vanderbilt. If Wash U doesn’t work out, I believe she will apply to Cornell, Georgetown, and possibly Penn. But the RD acceptance % at Penn is so low that I will encourage her to scratch it.

@reshawnhamilton I feel the same way. Everything in my application ranges from okay to quite good. But I’m international and asking for tons of aid lol. The anxiety is eating me alive. Let’s hope that everything goes well with all of us whatever the decisions are.
