ED class of 2022 discussion

@Jjlghv73 thank you. Was hoping tomorrow would be it but I guess we are waiting.

Was this an email back from your admissions person or from an email that everyone will get? Thanks for sharing the info. @Jjlghv73

I spoke with an admissions officer who assured me that just like most other colleges, the WashU ED decision release has been pushed back. They are not alloud to give specifc dates but I know for a fact that they will not be this friday or monday the 11th. This will be their latest decision release in recent history, very close to the 15th.

@deanmoriarty I certainly did not mean to antagonize anyone or insinuate that your or your friend’s particular scores would bring down the average. I could also be considered a “hooked applicant” – my grandfather went to WashU, so I’m not “blameless” here. The statistics about hooked applicants in general, however, do not lie. This article might help put things into better perspective. https://priceonomics.com/is-applying-early-decision-to-college-for-rich/
Take a look at the sections called “Applying Strategically” and “Disadvantaging the disadvantaged?” So you are right, at top schools ED students do turn out to have “slightly lower qualifications” – makes sense. It is, however, important to think about why and to consider that the lower reported average may not be as applicable as it appears for unhooked applicants in many cases. Some groups, such as wealthy and hooked applicants are overrepresented in the sample, so comparing ED and RD stats gets very tricky. We will probably never know what really goes on since colleges obviously don’t release a ton of this data.
Also, your situation sounds very promising, still keeping my fingers crossed for us all that the decisions come soon and put us out of our misery!!

@Winky1 This was a response in regard to the email I sent yesterday afternoon.

Looks like it’s gonna be a looonnnngggg week of waiting…

@cowrooster @Jjlghv73 Are you both serious… I was thinking maybe they didn’t want to give out information about a release date in case they couldn’t release it this week (no expectations so if they couldn’t there would be no backlash). But now I feel like we are going to get it next week on Wednesday or Thursday like all the other schools. This sucks haha.

I feel you hahahaha @equinox19

@tsukisan and @librarylove, at a presentation from Sam Fox School I attended with my D (also going for Communication Design - Illustration), they stated that for Class of 2021, in the College of Architecture, there were 60 people admitted total, and around 11 of them were ED, rest were RD. In the College of Art, there were 80 people admitted, but they didn’t have a breakdown of ED versus RD. I seem to recall that they said the ratio was probably pretty similar.

@proudstldad best of luck! Do you know if professors from Sam fox review the application or if the states representative does?

@cowrooster , can you attach the full text of the email?

Does anyone have any ED stats on the Olin
business school

@librarylove Sorry, I do not know.

do you guys know if the admissions committee looks at scholarship submissions when determining early admission? in other words will submitting a scholarship before results come out help you get into washu?

@smiley9101 They track all content you make with the University as “interest”. So yes, unless you applied ED, in which your decision has most likely been made already, and doing that won’t help now…

Any updates on the ED date?? Is it possible to be today?

@Haoyu99 It could (none of us know the exact date…) but most of us are guessing next week. I would personally guess next Tuesday.

@Jjlghv73 I’m still praying they throw a curveball and release today

What I don’t get is why they aren’t ready to release decisions. As @equinox19 has pointed out, they had 9 extra days than last year, and ED applications only went up 2%. Am I missing something?

In their defense, they have always said “by December 15th.”

I am curious, @equinox19 , what made you pick Wash U over Vanderbilt after you posted those threads in each school’s sections? You got some good feedback!
