@Winky1 Honestly because Washu is closer to home. Thats about it, Vanderbilt is a really close second for me.
@equinox19 I feel you on that lol. Ready to get this rejection letter HAHA. We will see ig.
My D got her RD application in to Vanderbilt already Good luck, I was just curious.
Hi, I applied ED to WashU Olin. So are we pretty sure that regardless of the day, decisions will come out at around 5pm central time? Just want to confirm so that I’m only obsessively checking my email one hour each day lol.
Hey @lake2018 also an Olin ED applicant here. I’m not sure it’s gonna be 5 pm EST because someone pointed out that decisions were out 12-1pm in some of the past years. Afternoon in the US is night-early morning in my place. The awful thing is I don’t even know which day the decisions will be out to wake up early lol
I was in the exact same boat. WashU or Vandy for ED.
If you don’t get accepted ED, does anyone have any info on what the likelihood of rejection versus deferral are? I was wondering if most kids will be put into regular decision pool. I heard that at Vandy, kids are either accepted or rejected ( but don’t quote me on that), but I am not sure about Wash U… Any thoughts?
No idea, @busymd
On the tour they told us applicants are accepted or rejected during the ED phase. No deferrals.
Somehow I’ve always been under the impression that a large number of people will get deferred and that only those who are really unqualified will be rejected. But I have no authority on this issue. Tbh I’d rather being rejected right away than getting deferred only to be formally rejected 4 months later
Wow, I always assumed that schools do what @fatcat15 just explained. Seems harsh to accept or deny all in ED. Because someone denied in ED might be more qualified than lots of RD candidates. But I guess they do know the kind of candidates they are looking for and wouldn’t have such a process if they actually hurting themselves, so to say.
@ntnn123 wrong about students being outright rejected during ED. There were a few kids who were deferred to RD last year. You can check the Class of 2021 posts.
Good to know, @hamurtle
Wait I’m not sure that everyone gets either rejected or accepted. I know someone last year who got deferred ED then accepted RD, and last years thread had way more deferrals than rejections.
If there was any chance that decisions were being released today, when would they send an email to students letting them know?
Son got his email notification last year at 3:05 Pacific Time so 5:00 Central Time is about right.
So 6 pm Eastern time will be it for us if it’s coming. Thanks.
Hey guys, I submitted an ED app to WashU as well! I’ve been reading the CC posts on this thread for a while, but finally made a CC account myself! Excited to see decisions soon
I also submitted my ED app. Hoping decisions will come out today!! I think there is a chance if last year is any indication especially with a 11/1 deadline which would give even more time. maybe wishful thinking! Good luck to everyone!
@ntnn123 did a student tell you that or someone of more authority?
