@RyanG1207 , I am a parent. after my D submitted the common app, I received a separate form via email to submit. then your counselor has 1 also to sumit.
i think I did, it in recommendation section @RyanG1207
I turned in my ED app last week and just got an email about progress reports… As of right now I have 3 A’s and 2 high Bs( 88, 87). If I send this in will it affect my chances? I have a 4.0 unweighted before this semester and I know I can get both of these up. Should I wait until after the next test to send it in or will they not review my app until I send it in and put me at a disadvantage?
I think you can send first quarter grades instead of progress report grade. @wyo002
Was this a very specific individualized email , @wyo002? Or was it a standard email for everyone? If it was standard, I think your counselor needs to send in your transcript with your grades from your first marking period . However your school calendar does grades. Ours is on semester grades.
@winky1 does it has to include grades from progress report or just 1st quarter
Just asked her, and my D received the same email. I think it’s standard and sent to ED applicants about progress reports. I will tell her to send the email to her GC because they want the progress report by Dec. 1st and her semester will not be over by then. Her grades are great so I think she should have the report sent asap!!
doesn’t specify, @edsmart . just says progress report by dec. 1
It was general… It asks for current classes and current grades. Our school is semester so my counselor was going to send it at the end of the year, but the email says they need them by december 1st.
@Winky1, they mention 1st marking period grades though
Our schools grades are given by semester, @edsmart. Nothing sooner is a true grade. So there is no other marking period. What makes sense in our case is if the GC sends a progress report after the first 9 weeks which will be a week from Friday - half way through the semester.
@Winky1, I guess it’s different for each schools
Hi I’m new to the thread! I submitted my application a week ago. Anyone here also applied to Olin? What are your intended major? And is it true Olin has a lower acceptance rate compared to other divisions?
I am majoring math @fatcat15. I don’t know if Olin has lower acceptance rate, but it one of most competitive business program.
Hi @fatcat15 , my D has applied as a biology major on the neuroscience track. Best of luck with your application, and welcome to the thead
Is it true that major has an impact on admission chances? @Winky1
@Winky1 Thanks! Wish your daughter best of luck as well! I applied as an Entrepreneurship/Marketing major
@edsmart I heard that some people applied to College of Arts & Sciences because they thought it would be less competitive, then changed their division after being admitted
I have not heard anything specific @edsmart and @fatcat15 about difficulty of admissions for majors/colleges within the university, however, I have always assumed there is a level of consideration universities give for this type of thing. I have seen figures broken out on the websites of different universities, but not for Wash U. Maybe @Hamurtle would know?
My understanding is that Olin is the hardest of the schools to enter as an undergraduate. As far as I know, WashU doesn’t publish the exact breakdown of acceptance rates by undergraduate divisions.
That being said, Arts and Sciences has the higher acceptance rate and there are intraschool transfers.
