ED class of 2022 discussion

Thanks for the info. By the way, I’ve looked through some threads related to WashU; it’s interesting that I found most people applied to A&S, some to Engineering, but very few to Olin and Sam Fox

Anyone else super nervous for decisions to come out? It feels like a grueling wait. What are everybody’s backups?

@Throwaway1900, I am relying on Rice and Ut Austin, super nervous!

My D already has an acceptance to the University of Pittsburgh. I am hopeful for Case Western Reserve for her which was an EA application. She will also have her Boston University and Vanderbilt applications in before December 1st. Everything else can wait until the Wash U decision happens.

What are your backups @throwaway1900? Don’t be too nervous. You’ve put it all into motion, and now you just let it fall into place. It’ll be fine whatever happens. I tell my D al the time that we can get genuinely excited about any of the schools on her list. But, yes, it is a wait now these last weeks.

@Winky1 My backups are University of Rochester and Boston University. Both great schools that I would be so happy to attend!

Very great back ups, @throwaway1900! As a parent, I am not worried about what school my D will attend so much. It’s the excitement of wanting to know if she’ll be at Wash U or if she’ll need to regroup and get mentally excited for the other 8 schools she’ll apply to (4 more would need to be finished for RD if Wash U defers or denu

Has anyone received a letter from a dept. head or professor? I am going off of @Hamurtle who said his son received such a letter last year? My D has not. I am just curious if there is any action going on out there? We know likely letters are extremely rare and would be for RD applicants. Anything? Any good interviews?

Hi! I applied ED as well and am currently waiting. With regards to the release date of decisions, my mom works for the med school (who also changed their due dates) and they had a huge influx of applicants this year so that could be the reason. Good luck to everyone and if anyone has any questions about St. Louis they can ask me!

@cjjellybean , good luck to you. Was the huge influx of applications this year? Was it for the med school and university? I am not totally following you. Thanks

I wouldn’t put too much stock in not getting a professor letter-the program that my son got a letter from is pretty esoteric.

Good luck to everybody who applied. This is the most nerve wracking time of the year for everybody.

Hey guys! I’m a senior at washu currently applying to medical school. I was on student doctor network (medical school equivalent of college confidential) and remembered that this website existed and that I have an account from four years ago when I was applying to college haha. Anyway if any of you have questions about washu and would like a perspective from a student who is in their final year please feel free to ask!

What did you study at Wash U, @toplel?

My D applied ED so we are waiting. Says we will be notified by 12/15. Is it like ACT/SAT where everyone is notified the same date or will some ED applicants hear earlier than others? It’s our first rodeo so don’t know the drill. Thx.

Welcome to the Waiting Room, @deanmoriarty , and welcome to CC, as I see that was your first post. There is a wealth of knowledge on the different threads! Good luck to your D. What does she plan to study?

I do think all ED applicants are notified on the same day in an email to check their portals for their decisions, but I can’t say for sure that some don’t find out earlier. I just never heard of that for Wash U ED. Also, I believe the decisions will come out on Dec. 8th based on when they really came out in past years. That would be the Friday before the 15th. Maybe someone else has thoughts as well?

As far as I know, decision notifications are all on the same day. There are no early notifications.

I’m still thinking 12/8 based on last year’s notification date for the son’s class.

If anyone wants information on classes, I can check in with my son as well as he is planning on a double major (Biology/History)-he has perspective on both the hard sciences and social sciences. A rather odd combination, but he knows someone in his dorm who is a CompSci/History double major.

I am curious why they would extend the deadline for early decision. Do they post number of applications received anywhere?

I am confused. I didn’t think they extended the application deadline for ED. I thought the deadline was November 15th last year for ED and this year it was moved up to November 1st.

@Waldo755, you are right! I just saw on the Wash U website that the ED deadline was moved to November 6th! No reason was given. I would be agitated if I was a kid who really made the effort to make the deadline only to see it was extended. My D got her application in at the end of September, thankfully.

Anyone know anything about this?

@Winky1 I studied bio!
