Recruited athletes get pre-screened and may get an indication that if they apply ED and commit they will likely get in but they do not get admitted earlier than other ED students, or if they do that information is informal and not formal acceptance.
Hey everyone! Sorry to “hijack” this thread…I’m applying RD to WashU but got this email and I’m not sure if it’s a personalized email or if it’s one everyone got?
It’s about the Interdisciplinary Program in Humanities and the email seems like a template email but it also asks for me to respond kinda with my interests + opportunity to meet with the author of the email (an IPH prof?) and it says that a “colleague” told this prof that “I’ve made my deep interest in humanities clear on my application.”
I did submit my application (since the interview deadline is Dec 8th)…and I did talk to my regional admissions officer about my interdisciplinary interest (although not in the humanities…)…did anyone else get this email? I’m just so confused if I should respond or if it’s just plain marketing.
Thank you so much everyone
@LushLillies see my reply in the other thread.
@LushLillies , definitely respond!! You only benefit by responding and engaging and finding out more about this program. Great news! My D got an email from Mr.Polites who teaches the Med Prep courses and after @aleg said he responded, I let my D know. We thought the email was a template too. And it might be, but she responded to it and he emailed her as well. Really nice to have those correspondences.
@Winky1 thank you for your response! I just realize that I also received the email from Mr. Polites (which makes much more sense since I am interested in medicine)…but this was way before I submitted my application.
I guess I will respond to these professors now then…I feel like these are templates but if the professors respond, then I guess there is nothing to lose!
By all means reply. The professors are pretty proactive. When my son was accepted ED, Professor Loewenstein (IPH director) contacted the undergraduate history advisor at WashU to let her know of the acceptance and forwarded the email to my son. Very nice personal touch.
@LushLillies , interesting because my D received the email from Mr. Polites before she had applied ED as well.
Reply back because he emailed me back with lots of information and I know they track our correspondence with the college. I have learned a lot more about Washington University.
Does anyone know when decisions are coming out for ed?
I’m hoping for Dec 8th
We are hoping for Dec. 8th as well. For what it’s worth, Cornell had Dec. 7th set as their ED decision day, and they have officially moved that date to Monday, Dec. 11th. I think it might’ve been because of the natural disasters and the influx of applications that came in when the ED deadline was extended.
Wash U did extend their ED deadline from Nov. 1st to Nov. 6th for this same reason, so I am wondering if Dec. 8th will not be accurate this year, even though decisions were released Dec. 9th last year. ??? They have said “by Dec. 15th.” I just don’t want me and my D to be terribly frustrated if the decisions do not come on Dec. 8th like we are all hoping they will.
I don’t know what this means, but the WUSTL First Year Center FB page is now showing a cover photo that says WashU#22…they wouldn’t announce decisions this early. Or would they?
It was posted 2 hours ago. I have a feeling that next Friday should be the big day.
Objecively, why would the First Year Center post that if the decisions were not coming today? To me, that makes no sense. I agree, it seems early for decisions, but this is making me wonder if something will come by early evening. I guess we’ll find out!
Hi! New to this thread and an ED applicant, but I feel like it’s not going to come today just because first marking period grades were due today. It’s possible they updated the cover photo because their executive board was announced. But, who knows? Hoping!
Good points, @whoknows0422 ! Thanks and good luck to you!
haha so definitely not coming out today. any chance it’ll come next thursday? I believe class of 2020 it came on a Thursday
Last year it was Friday 12/9 for the Class of 2021.
I still think end of next week for decisions-might be logical since next week is officially the last week of instruction and the week after is the reading period (aka dead week).
Here’s what I’ve gathered from old CC threads as far as the ED decision date:
5:45 pm 12/9/16 FRI
5:13 pm 12/10/15 THU
5:21 pm 12/10/14 WED
12:21pm 12/9/13 MON
12:46pm 12/11/12 TUE
1:05 pm 12/9/11 FRI
From this, I think there is a good chance decisions won’t come out until the 11th. Bummer.
If anyone finds some kind of pattern with this please let me know.
@Throwaway1900 makes sense, but keep in mind they moved our due date back 2 weeks (ended up being 9 days due to the natural disasters). Wouldn’t be surprised either day.
I thought the due date was November 1 and they changed it to November 6? Is that incorrect, @whoknows0422 ?
