Hey guys, I've had so much stuff to do recently and my essays definitely are not close to being done. I plan on finishing my entire application this weekend and sending them in on Monday/Tuesdayish. I'm also mailing my transcript/teacher recs tomorrow.
My question is, do you think schools will in ANY way look down on turning in your application right before the deadline?
Thanks!

If you submit your application electronically wont columbia technically receive it like 1 second after you press the submit button? i dont see why sending it in near the deadline is anything bad as long as it is on time. if anyone can definitively answer this question that would be nice, thanks.

They won't start reading them until mid to late November. It doesn't matter.

just get it in by midnight wednesday.

Columbia2002, how do you know that they wont start reading them till mid to late November? Doesnt that give a few weeks to make decisions?? I thought that schools start reading applciations after they are complete, but, unless rolling, will not make a final decision until all have been reviewed (well they make final decisions on recruited athletes and very underqualified applicants very quickly).

columbia2002 is right, i heard that as well when i was applying to college.

The adcoms meet for a couple weeks and work non-stop in committee from late Nov to early Dec. There aren't that many ED apps (relative to RD), so it doesn't take that long for them to pour through them all.

And, the applications aren't really ready to go on Nov 1. Letters trickle in slowly, files have to be processed by the staffers, SAT scores have to come in on tape, etc.

thanks for the replies
how long do they spend on each app? don't they like call teachers, sponsors..etc to verify what you put down or wrote on essays? cuz that should take a long time
but i dunno

i think for RD i heard they spend about a minute or so per app....

they absolutely do not call teachers etc for everyone...they would only do it if they have already decided to accept you and if what you are claiming seems sketchy in any way...otherwise they assume that you aren't lying. But of course you should also assume that if you do lie they will find out.

how the eff do they read 3 essays in a minute
any insight on how the process works would help

thanks for your response
