I'm not sure how strict they are going to be about this rule, but I went to Day Hall yesterday and asked them and they said that my deadline would still be Nov. 1. Just to be safe you guys should submit by then, unless you're actually affected by the storm, cause you never know :/.

^
Did you call, or did you physically go to Day Hall?

Physically go, I live in Ithaca.

How would they measure this…I mean I live in NJ and hurricane Sandy was hurricaning outside my window…but I wasn’t really affected by it. Well I got 3 days off from school but that only helps me. Hmmm.

I think they mean everyone in NC. VA. DC. MD. PA. NJ. NY. CT. MA. NH. VT. ME. Other colleges deadline extension notices specidied this

I agree with Peppino, but I live in CT and I’m without power and expected to be for up to a week (I’m at the library right now which is crowded beyond belief) so I don’t think my school will be able to send in my transcript by Monday…do you think they’ll extend it further or just review the applications on a case by case basis, which seems like a lot of work

I called Admission Office twice today and asked the representative there just to make sure. I told her that I live on the west coast and is not affected by the storm. She said that the new deadline applies to all applicants.
I referred your story to her, and she clearly said to me that it is okay to turn in any materials, including common app and its supplements online, until next Monday.
However, its always better to get everything in as soon as possible.
(p.s. Cornell undergraduate admissions office is not in Day Hall)

The ED deadline is Nov. 5. for everyone. I emailed the admissions office and they said that the new deadline applies to everyone, regardless of their geographic location. I live on the west coast as well, but I have been delayed by a computer virus.

The admissions office also said “The sooner the better”. So don’t just wait until Nov. 5th unless you actually have work left to do.

Holy ****, I think I just had a heart attack looking at this first post in this thread. Thanks for the clarification all.
