I'm really, truly sorry if you were rejected and I really don't want to put more salt on any wounds but I GOT IN! I can't believe it! I thought I would at least be deferred. Hopefully that makes this thread a little less discouraging to those who are still waiting.
I was also pretty surprised the letter arrived so quickly since I live all the way on the West Coast.

To CaddyBJ - EDII supposedly does offer a slight advantage because the admissions officers know the applicants have done their research and decided they really want to go to Swarthmore. This article is a bit old but it gives a lot of insight into the ED process at Swat: Bock: Early Decision admissions "works in the context of Swarthmore" :: The Daily Gazette
Hope that helps!

I don't know why Swarthmore even has an EDII. As far as I'm concerned, it's for people who got rejected by their first choice ED and Swat is just a doormat for these applicants. I think all of you should be rejected.

@Duhvinci - judgmental much? There are lots of reasons for applicants to apply EDII besides as a last resort. Namely, more time to work on one's application due to the incredibly stressful 1st semester of senior year. Although it's possible that certain applicants flit from ED to ED, please try to be a little more open minded.

CaddyBJ - thanks! Haha don't mind DuhVinci. I've read his/her posts before and they're all in that sort of tone.

DuhVinci - I'm glad Swat is nice enough to provide an ED II for all those very indecisive applicants like myself. I definitely did not even think about applying ED for any other school but my family's debate about how much financial aid we would be able to get delayed my commitment. And the ED I date of November 15th came a little too fast for me >< haha.

Congrats FloatingSaturn! If you have a facebook, join the Swarthmore Class of 2013 group!

hehe - I'll PM you my stats.

Best of luck to the international students who haven't heard back yet!

@ JSukhera13- where are you from?
Yeah I know, it seems all the rejections have come out already- I've been checking my mail for some 5 days now waiting for the email!
So how many have been accepted - it seems about 5 rejections and 2 acceptances! [adding the 2 rejections i know, that makes it 7 and 2] unless I've counted incorrectly.

I'm from Pakistan. You? I dont think anyone has applied to Swarthmore ED from my city, therefore i have absolutely no idea about whats going on. Have you called admissions?

I'm from India. 2 others had done it- both were rejected [I'm from Mumbai].
I'm thinking of calling them if I don't get it by morning- BUT its president's day weekend in US- so they have a long weekend... and a bank holiday.

oh, so we arn't that far apart. we'll probably get ours together. what i dont understand is why those two from your city were notified and we wern't! Both of them were sent notifications by email right?

btw, are you by any chance a US citizen? cause they might have made two lists, sending snail to the americans while emailing the international students. do you think this is possible?

This looming over my head is such a distraction!

Yeah, :@ Jsukhera- I mailed the office and they replied saying since I was an "American Abroad" the reply has been posted. Are you an American citizen too? :P
Seriously, I didn't understand their logic of making us wait!
