ED II or RD?

I got deferred from Wellesley a couple of days ago and have been thinking about changing my Colgate app to ED II. Would you recommend me doing that based on my stats? Please chance me! I'd really appreciate it.

GPA: 94.5 out of 100
SAT I: W 710, M 670, CR 670
SAT II: Math2C 800, World 700, US 740
AP: World History 3, English Language 3, US History 5
Taking 4 more AP's senior year (AP Microecon, Macroecon, Calc AB, Psychology)

Extracurricular:
Co-editor-in-chief of a few publications (humor publication, yearbook, literary magazine) 10-12
Volunteer work: Environmental activism + teaching children English and music regularly (English weekly, music every break); received a letter of appreciation from the local government last year for my volunteer work
Choir: 9-12
Soccer: 9-12
Internship: Translator at a publishing firm (got paid, as well--summer before senior year)

Other:
Upper middle class
First-generation Asian-American
Dual citizen (US and S. Korea)
Intended major: Women & Gender Studies, Psychology
Female

Thank you

I would recommend doing ED2 if Colgate is your next top choice. The admissions statistics for ED1 and ED2 are significantly higher than their RD stats (about 50% vs. about 26%). Around half of their incoming class comes from ED. You have a better chance at getting in if you go ED2. I have comparable stats to you and was just accepted ED1.

Hope this helps!

You need to change to ED II or will likely be rejected. Because Colgate only considers CR and M from SAT I as primary stat, you have 670 + 670=1340. Although there may not be a strict cut off, without 1400 and no hook, you are at great risk. Sorry to say but I am an alum and visited recently with son #2. They said do ED you are in, no ED SOL.

go for ED2

Plus if you go ED2 you hear within 3-4
weeks of changing your status instead of waiting until the end of March.

Thank you so much for the responses, everyone. I’m definitely leaning towards applying ED II now!

@cbagolfer: I hope you don’t mind me asking, but what were your essays about? For the supplement, do you think it’s specific enough if I wrote about an institute within the university that particulary interests me?

My son is a senior at Colgate. He went ED2 and was accepted . Your hook is Colgate needs males and you are Asian American- my bet is if you go ED2 you are in. Make sure you visit and contact your state admissions rep at Colgate. Have your guidance counselor call as well. By the way, my son loved his experience there and it is hard to believe he is out this May. Good luck .

MontanaDad,
There’s no such hook for this applicant who is female.
And to Helloitsweird0, best of luck with your plans!
