ED letter!

her angst has disappeared…the sun is shining…she’s in!!!

where do you live? i live in florida, im hoping the letter comes today too...

Got mine too.

Deferred.

Oh well...I suppose worse things have happened. =D

Good luck to the Amherst EDers from the Williams board.
All purple!

deferred...

What are chances of being accepted after being deferred?

what part of the country are you all from? I'm in California. Did the letter come regular or priority mail? Small or large envelopes?

Deferred aka the nether world. Oh well out of my control. April is only 3.5 months away and I have 6 other great schools that I applied to. I will be totally polite and keep my opinions to myself in hopes that Amherst will come to its senses during RD time. It's hard to figure out the weakness of my application when I'm # 4 in my class of 420 with 3.95 GPA uw, Nat'l Merit Semi, 1460 SAT's etc etc etc. But hey I really am optimistic that I will go to a great school that I will enjoy whether its Amherst or one of the other great lacs.

Evita thanks for all of the good thoughts and say high to the D.

Dana

I got in! Best of luck to all of you.

mail just came, no letter from amherst....damn, looks like i have to wait til monday

"It's hard to figure out the weakness of my application when I'm # 4 in my class of 420 with 3.95 GPA uw, Nat'l Merit Semi, 1460 SAT's etc etc etc."

I doubt you had a real weakness. Remember, Amherst didn't reject you, so you're qualified to attend. It's just that they receive so many amazing applicants, and they really try to cap their ED acceptances. Good luck for the RD round, I'm sure you'll get into somewhere fabulous, and hopefully Amherst will come around.

Hi all ED acceptees, see you next year!

Thanks Unregistered and you to Dean.

I have finals next week - and i really odtn want to study - becuase if iget in it ownt matter tht much - hwat do u think is my chance fo getting in (ill find out monday) - it would really kick ass is u could try to approxximate a %!

I got deferred as well. I'm very disappointed--I guess that goes without saying.

Congrats to all accepted and good luck in the RD round those deferred!!!
I have a few more months before I start panicking during RD round =)

I wish the news were better, but it is still not hopeless. Keep showing your interest in the meantime, and I I pray the news will be better in April. I know it is disappointing and hurts - D was rejected her first choice, then accepted second choice, but not enough $ from them, so she was frantic. She wound up where she should have been, It will be so for you, too. God bless you and your family!

CollegeClueless, I'd say you have about a 50/50 shot. Although your stats aren't "blow your mind away stellar", you're a legacy and Amherst likes those...plus you're from Texas. I'm just afraid your inability to spell "writing" correctly might hinder you chances a bit ;)

And the word, "approxximate." =P

Hey I'm from Texas too! Since when is that an advantage hehe

ya well typos are kinda my thing

Some interesting statistics from The Amherst Student on the ED results. 28% urm and socio economic admits. 21% legacy. 70 male to I think 62 to 64 female. So if you are an upper middle class, white, female from the Middle Atlantic region whose parents didn't go to Amherst then the above reflects your chances at ED. Are we the future urm's fellow females of my demographic?

I am much more upbeat today and feel that all of us will end up at great schools even if it isn't Amherst. There is still a statistical chance at Amherst admission and I will continue to show my interest and continued academic greatness(lol).

Power to we women whose parents are blessed with means. Pls don't construe this as a negative comment to any other qualified kid who got in . I am truly happy for u.

where are people finding all of these statistics from the amherst student? are they available online?
