Ed,plme,rd, brown brown brown!

According to the website, brown doesn’t roll you over to RD from the ED pull. Does that mean, 1)if you are rejected you are forever rejected 2)if you are deferred you can still be accepted AFTER the RD? Does ED really increase your chances?

Does PLME roll you over to the RD? Is it common (relatively) for people to be rejected in PLME but accepted to the University?

P.S does anyone mow the name/contact info of applications reader for Georgia??

Thanks

I am sorry for misspellings. The computer auto(falsely) corrects my typings.

What website did you get your info from? The Brown website says:

There is much debate about whether ED helps. Many ED acceptees are recruited athletes whose chance of get accepted is 100%, so that skews the numbers. If you took out the athletes, the ED acceptance rate is much lower than what’s published. Brown insists that your chances in the ED and RD rounds are the same, but I think there is some advantage to your application being read early and in a smaller pool.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen statistics for percent of PLME applicants who are accepted to Brown but not PLME. Some PLME applicants check the box that says they may not go to Brown if not accepted PLME, so they probably are not going to get in. I personally know some PLME applicants who are denied PLME but accepted to Brown, so it definitely happens.

Brown tends not to publicize which states admissions reps are responsible for.

My daughter applied Ed to Brown and PLME and checked the box that said she would still go to Brown even if she did not get accepted to PLME. She was accepted to Brown ED and deferred by PLME. She was then accepted to PLME during RD.

Here is a breakdown of all the possibilities:

Standard Applicant:
-> ED:
-> Acceptance
-> Deferral to Regular
-> Acceptance
-> Rejection
-> Waitlist

-> RD:
-> Acceptance
-> Rejection
-> Waitlist

PLME:
-> ED:
-> You select only to be admitted to the college if you admitted to PLME
-> Acceptance to College + PLME
-> Deferral to Regular
-> Acceptance to Both
-> Acceptance to College but Rejection from PLME
-> Waitlist (for college)
-> Rejection
-> Rejection from Both
-> You select to be admitted early (binding) to the college even not PLME
-> Acceptance to Both
-> Acceptance to College (binding), but PLME is deferred to regular
-> Accept PLME
-> Reject PLME
-> Rejection
-> Waitlist

-> RD:
-> Acceptance to the College & PLME
-> Acceptance only to the College
-> Rejection
-> Waitlist (For the college, this means rejection from PLME)

As you can see, there’s lots of different possibilities depending on whether or not you check the box :)
