ED rates

according to the Yale Daily News, Brown was the second most selective ivy this year in the ED round. many congrats to those accepted in the ED round

http://www.yaledailynews.com/article.asp?AID=31173

yale 17.7%

brown 22.7%

columbia 25.9%

princeton 26.8%

harvard 28.1% (this one is suspiciously high, they seem to have done their math wrong)

dartmouth 30.2%

thats good, well harvard was weird, in my school they accepted a huge number of EA (about 14 people got in!)

it makes sense, the smartest people do ED/EA >_> (i didn't)

brown allowing less now maybe means more in RD ... i hope

I'm not sure how to explain the Yale thing, but maybe Harvard accepted so many early because they're EA instead of ED -- they know not everybody they admitted is going to come, so they accept more.

I hope so too Big F

It's not that they'll be accepting more people RD. Brown accepted 23% compored to last year's 28% because there were significantly more early applicants than there were last year. A bit more than were accepted last year were accepted this year (583 people got in this year). Therefore, the RD round will likely be even more selective than last year so that they can best obey their quota of 1,450 freshmen.

I think you're on to something dcircle, last time I checked, 807 of 3 872 is not 28.1%.

But hey, I'm going to Brown, what do I know right?

btw - brown ED apps. were up 16% and they accepted 5% less than last year. legacy admits were also down - i think about 5-6%

down with the legacy admits!!! (cuz im not one!)

today's brown daily herald report

http://www.browndailyherald.com/media/paper472/news/2006/01/26/CampusNews/U.s-Early.Decision.Acceptance.Rate.Drops-1505728.shtml?norewrite&sourcedomain=www.browndailyherald.com

even crazier, apps to brown med school increased by 60%
http://www.browndailyherald.com/media/paper472/news/2006/01/26/CampusNews/Medical.School.Applications.Up.60.Percent.In.The.Second.Year.Of.Admitting.Standa-1505756.shtml?norewrite&sourcedomain=www.browndailyherald.com

up with the legacy admits!

because i am one!

you're beginning to sound slightly less angry so i have a question
you're legacy apparently; do you know any legacies that got in (other than a super connected one ?) cause if legacies get in later (and they are , what 15% of the class) thats a big chunk of the rd pool

you mean you're brown legacy or yale legacy cause i keep seeing you on the yale thread ?
