ED1 Class of 2019 Applicants

So glad this thread opened up, I’m glad to see so many of us EDers here! I’m really worried about my chances and as mentioned before am not optimistic, Tufts is incredibly competitive and for good reason, I’m hopeful but I know my chances are very low, its a matter of fact now I suppose, but in any case I wish all of you luck and hope this thread keeps going, nice getting to know some of you!

@worldtraveler97 I am in contact with an Admissions Officer at Tufts Medical School (and not affiliated with Tufts Undergrad at all) and she was gushing about how helpful premed advising at tufts is. There’s so many opportunities for internships, shadowing, volunteer work, etc. if one is willing to do a little more research. & cool fact: you can apply to Tufts Medical school as a sophomore and be admitted (and not have to take the MCAT). Talk about a stress free junior/senior year haha

@melxxr‌ my son is a junior premed. He’s done a lot of shadowing and volunteering. Had a couple of internships. None of it with the help of tufts premed advisor. I had to use a lot of personal connections to get him all of those. Not sure what the admission officer was talking about. The research he’s been doing in Tufts he found on his own. I’m not saying that prehealth advisor is bad, but personally I haven’t seen her be helpful yet. Hopefully in med school application process. And my son tried out for the early assurance program. It’s a great opportunity but not that easy to get into.

I’m so glad that so many of you have found this thread, although the more we are the more competition  @WorldTraveler97‌ I’ve heard the same! I put English as my intended major but would love to follow the pre-med track as well, and apparently Tufts really helps you with the whole process of requirements and med school applications and all

I hope you guys don’t think of each other as competition. I’m applying ED and I hope that the admissions officers don’t look at us as just more people to skew the applicant pool. Hopefully they look at each person individually and look for what they can bring to the school, instead of simply looking at our numbers and comparing us.

Anyway, good luck to you all. I’m applying to the School of Engineering and hoping to see you guys next year!

Hi guys! I also applied ED1 to Tufts but I do not have much hope in getting in. My school, family, and friends use those phrases like “have hope” and “you never know!” but like I don’t have really good SAT/ACT scores nor was I a member of National Honor Society so I am afraid that my chances may be skewed as a result. Oh well, I am hoping for the best though… Tufts is my number 1 obviously lol.
Among many reasons, it is my number one because of its awesome ‘feel’, its diversity and happy feeling on campus, the great pre-med (i want to go on a pre-med track), and its financial aid abilities.
I know we supposedly find out ED1 results in mid-december, but does anyone know the exact date?
You guys probably feel the same as me… I want to know sooner than later if I am into Tufts so if I’m not (which lets hope is not the case lol) then I can regular decision apply to a few other schools
Goodluck everyone.

Supposedly we will find out on December 15. You should not find out later than that, however I wouldn’t be too surprised if you find out earlier. Good luck, hope to see you at Tufts!

DD applied ED1 but no longer is able to get onto TAMS – has anyone else had a problem accessing TAMS since the ED1 deadline?

@scoobysnack I think Tufts stopped using TAMS and switched to a different Application Status. Your DD should have received an email with a link and username for it

@breakingbadgirl‌ I get the same “hopeful” encouragements! we don’t even have National Honors Society in France… But we can do it! We will get in. (Yeah, I’m trying to reassure myself. It’s not working very well)

How is everybody holding up? I’m finding it hard to concentrate on anything other than the Dec. 15th (?) decision notification :expressionless: I’m using school, debate, and soccer to distract me as much as possible haha.

@ronaldinholion Same it’s difficult to concentrate for sure. Its hard because at school kids are all talking about the applications they are doing for early actions/reg decisions and what not and i’m just like… i’m only doing regular decisions if i absolutley have to if I don’t get into Tufts…
Gah lol I use dance classes/my cats for distraction.

@dacookiemonster Yeah! Positive thinking and positive energy out to the environment and hopefully we receive the same positive result lol. science

I basically just focus on playing guitar more often and not stressing about everything. I think sometimes we get caught up in all the minutiae of everything and forget to keep it in perspective. If you think about your entire life, this is a relatively small and minor piece, and I think to beat yourself up over something that should be predominantly happy and exciting is ridiculous. I know there’s this huge rush to go to your favorite college and the best college possible, but it should just be about trying to be as happy as possible and focusing on everything that’s positive.

I may be a bit hypocritical about this because it’s not always easy to keep everything in perspective, but by doing this you feel way more relaxed and you stop worrying about the little stuff. It stops mattering if you got a couple of questions wrong on the SAT/ACT or didn’t do as well on the test and you had hoped. It still matters, but I think that over-stressing yourself is a recipe to basically be miserable and paranoid all the time.

I’ve found that it’s insanely difficult to not be anxious with the constant college-based questions asked to us by adults. It seems as though whenever I forget about December 15th, someone asks me “So where do you want to go for college?” and whenever I say Tufts, the immediate response is “Oh that’s a great school.” Yes, I know it’s a great school, that’s why i ED-d there, so can everyone stop reminding me how great it is and making me more attached to it (if that’s even possible haha)

@micmatt513 @conservativearts i feel that, from both of you. Like I guess I know that even if I don’t get into Tufts, I — we all — will end where we are meant to be. I don’t even mean to make that sound like some weird religious “god has a destiny for us all!” type of thing (I actually am irreligious for that matter), but I feel that things have a way of working out the way they are supposed to for everyone. So hey, it will be unfortunate if I do not get into Tufts, but I guess it is just whats meant for me; yet, it is difficult to constantly reassure myself whilst surrounded by classmates who are competitive and adults who seem to sometimes be more judgmental than students lol. Maybe it’s the senior in me but like, right now I just feel like saying “Screw it and as long as i am going to a college, whatever!” … but then again, here I am writing a novella due to my obsession and love of singularly Tufts. lol.

Hi friends! Another ED-I applicant here…infatuated with everything Tufts is about, and hoping for the best come mid December! Quick question–has anyone confirmed that we will know on or by December 15th, or is it just assumed?

Hi everyone! I’m extremely stressed because I never received an email with an application confirmation or any sort of login info. I emailed my district’s admissions representative and she replied saying it was all good, but I have a funny feeling about it. Did anyone else not receive their login info?

@saxman19 great to have you on board  I think it’s assumed that we’re all going to find out on the 15th, but (correct me if I’m wrong) there have been instances in the past where decisions were released earlier.
@Hannahbanana214 I don’t know…if your district’s admissions rep said it was okay, then I think it should be fine! Maybe contact Tufts admissions directly just in case?

It used to say December 15 – they’ve changed that to “Mid-December” (that must have been a recent update, maybe they’re running behind schedule haha).

@Hannahbanana214 Go to Tufts and request more information. They are incredibly helpful. I just did this because the TAMS no longer was recognizing my email address, and it turns out that somehow the email address got changed to another one of my email addresses. She was nice enough to change it back though.
