no way average gpa is 3.63... that's too average... like mine haha

its important to note that the yahoo statistic is for entering freshman rather than accepted freshman. There is a good chance that they accept those with higher scores, but those with a little lower scores generally matriculate.

I thought it was low, too. But maybe it's unweighted GPA and includes all those competitive schools that don't rank or have grade inflation - For example, in my school you can have an unweighted 3.6 and still be in the top 10% of the class. Also add in legacies, athletes, diverse geography, economic backgrounds, etc.

Right. It depends on the school. Like my unweighted GPA of 3.57 (a/a+=4, a-=3.67, b+=3.33) would put me at about 30/300 ish.. but my classes were much harder so I'm actually 8/300ish

i wonder the % for over 750 math/verbal.

probably about 20% verbal, 25% math?

sexiyetibeast has to be bs'ing about that 2400.. hard to believe anyone could go up so much

From Penn's website Middle 50%(25 - 75 percentile) for accepted students incoming Class of 2009.

Verbal 660-760 ( so 25% are over 780)
Math 680-780 ( 25% are over 780)
ACT 30-34 (25% are over 34)

The info is a little different on here - shows 2% of accepted students last year having a verbal SAT of under 500, 0% math SAT of under 500.

I did ok on my november SAT: 720, 700, 700. I'm not too depressed.

i dislike how my verbal is not even in that middle range..

Low Sat's:
680M
600CR
560W

and even lower Sat II's:
630 Math IC
600 Lit
800 Spanish :)

but my ACT is decent:
30-E
28-M
29-R
32-S
30-Comp.

since when was 630, 600, and 800 < 560 w or 600 cr lol

whatever, your act is good so i wouldn't worry about it :)

Typo alert - I meant 25% of accepted have verbal over 760, not 780.

If a possible hook is that no one has went to Penn from your high school, do u have to put that in an essay or something or do they have a record of high schools that they will look up anyway.

it will look kind of pathetic to include that on the app - at least thats my opinion. Penn would be able to see that for themselves.

Yes, but if no one from the school district or area has ever gotten into an Ivy or equal, and it's a town where there aren't good opportunities, that could very well be incorporated into an essay as something you've overcome.

If it's just that no one has ever gone to Penn from your school, you could refer to that in the Why Penn essay (to say what made YOU want to go there), and I don't see that as bad at all. It all depends on how you do it, I guess.

It's true they will know for themselves, though.

Thats what i thought.

med1488...just reading a little bit a day can do wonders

u made my day.. we're kind of on the same level lol
