Kissimmee (The backyard of Orlando). Kinda Central

aye, aye, know it well, know it well

you know back then...the SATs were centered differently so a 1230 was really high.

I'm not a recruited athlete (although i do play some hockey).
I don't know if these qualify as hooks but I'm a siemens regional finalist and I also own a pretty successful online business (100k annual sales). The question is if test scores are 40% of the picture, would the 31 on the ACT be enough?

people could be considered for mensa with a 1250+ before

"darn it...i should have learned to play a sport"
haha, 26e, me too, me too

what's mensa??

mensa is like a society for geniuses

wow, Yukos, what kinda business do u own?

its an online retail business, i sell music boxes
http://www.amazingmusicbox.com

holy ****, your business website is tight. I hope you get into wharton

wow, impressive. how much time do u put into it??

A lot of time. Starting it took me working full time during the summer as I had to create the database from scratch. Once it was started I have to basically spend around 10 hours a week processing orders, answering phone calls, and occasional site updates. During Christmas time (which is now!!!), it gets insane. I have to hire a couple friends to help me assemble boxes, and all my non-school time is spent on the business (~30 hrs a week). Christmas generates close to 40% of annual sales - without this holiday profits would be extraordinarily hard to come by in retail business.

Yukos, do you make the boxes or resell them? Nice site! :)

Thanks. I resell of course =) I get the individual boxes from Sorrento, Italy and the mechanical movements from St. Creox, CH.
Customers have the option of customizing the music box with a specific tune. In that case, I install the mechanical movement into the box, in such a way that when the box opens the tune plays, and when it closes the tune stops playing (takes about 10 mins per box).

hey Yukos!

i have a midi that i made myself that I want to put into a box

can i do that?

Hey chanman,
Yes it is possible.
Keep in mind that these are mechanical movements not electronic. In other words not the cheap boxes made in china you find at your local hallmark. So converting the midi to the mechanical movement is a little more complicated (length has to be just right, certain notes may need to be 'simplified', etc...). I'll talk to you in PM.

hahaha, this thread has become a business. only wharton shakes head lol

wow that's incredible Yukos.

tru, kudos yukos. you're like a the bill gates of musical boxes.
