<p>My Freshman year of high school I got really bad grades. I took no honors classes, 1st semester I got a 3.00 (algebra-C, spanish-A, english-B, Biology-B, Choir-A, World History-C), and second semester i got a 3.67 (same order of classes: D, A, C, B, A, C). I made up the D i got later and got an A.
How bad will this effect the little (if any) chance I might have at Princeton assuming I get really high scores on my SAT's? BTW, I'm getting a 4.80 this semester, I got a 4.00 last semester (end of sophomore year) and I'm a junior now.</p>
<p>They don't even look at freshman year grades so I don't think you should be worried. (They see them, but they don't factor them in, but since you're doing so well now, it shouldn't be a problem).</p>
<p>I'm still worried though, for most people on this board applying to Princeton "bad" grades are B's during their freshman year.... Furthermore, Princeton is so selective (obviously) and i really want to go there! My sophomore year was much better than my frosh but still not ivy-caliber. I only took 2 honors and two AP's (classes at a local college). </p>
<p>I've heard that an upward trend is a good thing, do u think in a strange way my jump from horrible grades to a 4.80 in my junior year give me an advantage or make me stand out?</p>

<p>thanks. but so far this board has done very little to try and assess my chances. I realize its difficult without test scores and such but I just want to know exactly HOW much the D and C's i got freshman year will hurt me</p>
<p>oh crap. sorry in my original post that is supposed to be a 2.67 i got second semester. not a 3.67. but if u added up my grade points u would know</p>
<p>Well, there really isn't anything you can do about your freshman grades now. I take it they'll see the improvement, especially in more difficult classes, to be a positive thing. I doubt it'll be too much of a problem.</p>
