I am a legacy looking to apply to Penn CAS and have some connections at the school nothing huge but fairly legitimate. If you could give me any idea of what effect this would have on admission I would greatly appreciate it. I was also wondering if BA econ students take a serious back seat to Wharton students as far as job offers. Also if I wanted to earn a BA econ am I granted a preferred admission status if I chose to apply to Wharton for an MBA? Any info you could give me on any of these questions would be great, thanks.

If you apply ED the connections (legacy etc) are a significant advantage. RD, much less so.

Penn’s econ majors do not “take a back seat” to Wharton students when it comes to job offers. As you can see from the Career Services office student surveys, Penn’s College, SEAS, and Wharton students are all hired in large numbers for all sorts of jobs, including the ones with fantastic prestige and pay.

Two questions: 1. Is having multiple alumni in your family (hypothetically, mom and three grandparents) more beneficial to having just one? or once your a legacy, does the amount even make a difference? and 2. I know uncles are not counted as legacy… but will they know that they went to penn?

Is a brother count as a legacy for Penn?

bump…anyone?

Technically Legacy is a Y/N question, HOWEVER, you should definitely list all your connections as they could tip the scales in your favor. If you are Legacy, as you are, you should definitely apply Early Decision because your acceptance changes are doubled versus an unhooked applicant.
