Eh

Collegeboard's UC profile says acceptance rate is 40%. Since freshman class size is 1203, the application submission size translates to only ~3007 people?! Are Collegeboard's statistics erroneous?

not really...Libby Pearson just said they get a/b 3500 applicants a year and many don't end up attending. That is just sick. Where would you go besides Chicago???

It's really very sad. At least you end up with a class of people who really want to be there...

This year I believe the acceptance rate was down to about 36% and a higher than expected yield. If an increased yield is a continuing trend, then I would credit the work of the admin people and there attempts to put a human face on college admissions, such as Libby's participation on this board, the uncommon app blog, and the post cards and other material sent to homes. I doubt few now apply who do not at least have some notion of the "Idea of The University."
