Sorry, Blue. Racing against Time here, to get her moved into college. If I don't get to it today, I'll get to it early Monday. (Will try today.)

THANKS, Calmom.

i got accepted to ELC..i still dont understand what is the whole deal with it..

For example, U add 300 (?) points to your comprehensive review point total for UCSD admission.

Well, I got a letter and brochure asking me to apply ... didn't make the
ELC ... top 4% at my school means some of the valedictorians.
Last year we had 5% valedictorians :-) I took too many Honors
classes, making it too hard to make that cut.

Anyway, ELC doesn't gurantee UCB or UCLA ... so who cares?

no guarantee to UCB or UCLA??
but it will be still beneficial for applying there though,, won't it??

ELC is very advantageous at almost all campuses. For example, at Cal, there is a 67% admit rate for ELC students. At campuses like UCSB or UCSC, the ELC admit rate is over 95%.

So while it isn't needed by most students on these boards to win admission - it certainly is a big boost.

wow,,, now im happy.. lol
thanks for your info..i appreciate it

fwiw:

when I posed the elc question to a Berkeley adcom her response that kids get into that school in spite of their elc. In other words, they had the gpa to gain entrance to begin with-- the elc paperwork was just a minor data point. She mentioned that they were more likely to accept the next kid in line, a non-elc kid, if s/he brings more "diversity" to the campus than the elc kid, since the gpa's would be only two decimal places different.

well of course,, if someone is better than elc student then that person might get in..
