Do all the UC’s have the ELC thing? For example, has anyone gotten a letter from Berkeley or UCLA saying that they would automatically be in there?

the only ones this year that i have got are

irvine
ucsb
merced

ucsd -said apply and you will most likely get in

some years uc riverside sends them out

uc daivs doesnt send it out since its a waste of money/paprerwork and records because they will basically admit you if you have ELC , 96-98% admit rate with ELC

i posted a post about the % of each UC with elc its soemwhere in college addmin. You can also find the link by searching for it google, or uc pathways for last years addmit rate table for ELC students

BErk had like a 64%
UCLA had 55%

ELC makes a huge difference

i got uc merced and irvine
why didnt i get ucsb? i mean i would really like it if i did because that would be a huge weight lifted off of my shoulders.
Is it because i live in orange county and im closer to irvine?

I got the letter from UCI, a letter from UCSD saying "apply here" but not guaranteeing anything. I didn't get anything from UCSB. This was all last year.

I got into UCI (chancellors scholarship,CHP eventually), UCB(spring admission), and UCSD(winter quarter admission). Rejected from UCLA.

That's my story.

ELC is top 4 or top 3%? I always forget...

top 4% for elc...

ELC.. is just for cali residents, right?

Yes. only cal. thats why its Eligible on the Local Context

I got the letters from irvine and merced, but not sb. I think i got something from SD, but i'm not sure. Knowing the huge boost in % of admission is a great relief, taking much stress off writing my essays.

I saw some number stating that SD accepts 98% of its ELC applicants, so you might as well consider it guaranteed. Could be wrong though.

All the elc's from my school got the UCSB as did I. I live in the Central Coast of Cali. Im sure location has to do with it. Even though the %'s show that you have super high schnaces of being addmitted i will agree with you that it is nice to know for a fact that I am already addmitted inot these colleges granted that I apply yo them..

And im not even going to apply to UCSB or Meced.
UCSB is a very run down campus and college. The locl JC's are way nicer. The whole college needs a face lift. Also i hate the cold WIND. So i wont go to a campus on the beach.

the berkeley elc rate is like 50% or so, and that's just because some ELC people are in the top 4% of a weak graduating class/ no ec's. a career counselor at my school told me that ELC with high test scores, good essay, and EC's is almost a surefire thing...

haha yeah...i got the ELC letter for all the colleges that i'm not applying to. wasn't that nice of them?

just out of curiosity, which UC would be your top choice if you could get in at any of them? i am definitely hoping for UCLA!
