Eleanor Roosevelt College

Any Good? ...

Does anyone have any opinions or information on the ERC?

When I was there during the summer two years ago, they had just finished building some new dorms, which were full of singles with a beach view.

I'm currently a freshman at ERC, and for the most part, I love it. It was my first choice when I applied, and I don't regret that. The dorms are by far the nicest ones on campus; I get a beautiful ocean sunset nearly every day. Yeah, the buildings are pretty much new, and I like it so much better than the dorms at the other colleges. The food options are also the best on campus. The only downside about living in ERC is that it's a little far from everything. I mean, some of the other colleges are out in the boonies too, so all in all, it's not so bad. Oh, and ERC is no more than 4-5 minutes away from RIMAC, supposedly the "largest gym west of the Mississippi." Trust me, it's really convenient.

The emphasis of ERC is for students to become internationally aware. The college encourages students to study abroad a lot, which is a good thing for most kids.

Its core class, Making of the Modern World, if you didn't know, is a 6 quarter (2 year) sequence in which you study different time periods chronologically from prehistory to present time. I think that more people like MMW than people who don't; however, I personally don't like the class (I'm a math/science person). ERC kids and Revelle kids generally have the most requirements. MMW is 6 quarters long, so you kinda have to balance you schedule correctly if you plan to graduate in 4 years. There's a list of GE reqs on their website, so if you're going, I encourage you to check it out.

Hope that helped !
