Electrical Engineering

I want to apply to A&M College Station with electrical engineering as my major. Right now, I go to a private school in Texas. I qualify for an academic admit (2090 SAT, 1450 Reading & Math), have a 4.0 GPA, am ranked 10th in my class (top 15%), and have around 200 hours of EC's. A rep that came to my school suggested that we send our application in early, so I am going to send my application in by late September or early October.

How hard would it be for me to get electrical engineering as my major?

As long as you get your application in early, you will get into electrical engineering. At A&M, you’re admitted into the university as a whole first. Then, as long as there are openings in the major you have chosen, you will be placed in that major. There is a requirement to have at least a 550 on the math portion of your SAT for engineering, but you are obviously well above that. So be ready to push that apply button in August when the application process opens and you’ll be in to EE!

Don’t wait for early October. Try for mid-september.

Some of the spots in engineering fill up quickly. Why wait? The application opens first week of August.

EE does not fill up as fast though. For my year there were openings going into January.
