so i've been thinking...what about my piano?
discrimination hardly seems fair.
;) jk

Like, a real piano? Sorry missmuff, that'll have to wait for post-Academy... ;)

I keep my keyboard on the extra desk in my room (we have two people in a three person room), and no one has ever said anything about it. I'd ask your squad at the beginning of the Ac year though just to make sure.

nope, i'm alright.

I think potter had the SSS completed mostly because she never met a rule she wanted to break....LOL :)

Ok, how often does the orchestra meet, and does anyone know if they have saxophones? Sometimes they do, but my high school symphony didn't.

OK Potter said they meet at 5PM on Sunday or 17:00 as you will soon learn to call it. You will practice on your own during the week. They do have Saxophones (she has cautioned before about joining D&B). Apperently they make even band geeks seem weird (Dont shoot the messenger). Most who do join don't stay on past year 1.

On the other hand, D & B seems to depend on the swarm of freshmen that join (some for legitimate reasons, some to get out of training) every year, so if we dissuaded everyone from joining, we'd have no D & B. :P

Point well made G4C. D&B does serve a purpose. Hopefully not to avoid training.

I did D&B (the Drum and Bugle Corp) for two months last semester, then quit because I didn't have enough time to study. So, unless you are pretty good at academics and time management already, don't do D&B. Several of my friends from D&B where on Ac Pro by the end of the semester.

So, try it if you want to for the first two weeks, but do NOT sign the contract that they give you until you have thought long and hard about it. The contract is nearly impossible to get out of, even if you go on Ac Pro. I know because it took the assistance of several officers and most of the senior cadet leadership in my squadron to get me out of the contract.

I thought the orchestra was different from D&B, and that there were no saxophones or any woodwinds in D&B. Isn't the orchestra a concert group?

orchestra is different. they are a concert group (and very good. they played with us, meaning Catholic Choir, at our concert Sunday)

orchestra is much smaller, and is an extra club (like a choir or paintball or something) that does not excuse you from any training like an "LOS" club. i know they have trumpets, but i don't remember seeing saxes. i'm checking on it though and will get back to you.

i stand corrected. they do have saxophones.

here's a reply i got from someone in it i just asked:

"We currently have all of the brass instruments (trumpet, trombone, French horn, tuba) and most woodwinds (alto sax, tenor sax, clarinet, flute, oboe)."

he also said Dr. U (they guy in charge) wuold be willing to use most instruments as long as you could play it and practiced.

sooo, if i bring my violin i might be able to practice it (if my roommates don't HATE classical music)? Also, are there chances to have a private lesson teacher? I talked to the orchestra director already about the orchestra; it sounds GREAT considering i thought i wouldn't be able to play my violin in a group any more. :)

Also, back to electronics, I just got a MacBook for Christmas and i am really sad to have to part with it--I get so much done on it! Not only do I not like anything really other than Macs, I have a lot of stuff stored on my laptop like notes, dates, contacts, and software.
I know they issue us laptops--i got to see one firsthand on a visit, the swivel tablet thing is cool--but will I also have the chance to store my MacBook away in my room? It seems like that's a longshot, but I'm really hoping!!

I know several of my freshman had their own laptops in addition to the issued ones. Definitely possible.

you'll just have to make sure to record it, and either keep it locked in your drawer, or have a lcok for it to secure it in your room
