@MikeSauce If I don’t get into Yale, I’ll be attending Columbia. However, I have no desire to live in NYC, so I’m staying positive - Yale all the way!
@hillaryb Congrats! Columbia has a huge vet population, Im sure the transition wouldnt be too bad. And yeah sometimes I have to remind myself that there are 8 spots available, thats 8 chances!
@MikeSauce Congrats to you on Berkeley! That’s a great school!
May 28 is much too far away.
No, they received 140 applications and only called 28 for interviews. I interviewed with Patricia Wei and she said they will be admitting between 4-8 this year and decisions will be made by the 26th.
@immunomom Are you my friend from Ohio from the tour on May 6th?!
Ok, this waiting game is really killing me… did any viterbi applicant receive decision?
oops wrong topic, sorry!
The 26th is even better! I was told the 28th, but maybe thats the ending date
@MikeSauce I got into Brown, which theoretically solves my “no desire to live in NYC” problem.
But if I don’t get into Yale I’ll have some serious pro and con lists to make.
I hope we all get in. Let’s set some kind of record for the most Eli Whitney applicants ever accepted.
@hillaryb Thats great! I got waitlisted at Brown and rejected from Johns Hopkins, while accepted to Cornell and Penn. Though I hardly put effort into my common app schools, its pretty discouraging lol I guess we’ll see in a couple of weeks!
@MikeSauce What do you think you’ll do if Yale falls through?
Has anybody else been put in a position that they have to commit to an accepted school before the EW acceptance date? I hate that it’s so late in May!
@Surfbort the Yale admissions office said we should request an extension from other universities. During my interview I was told that Yale moved up their admission date because it was causing so many issues with other universities!
@HillaryB Ive already begun the process to attend UC Berkeley Haas School of Business, submitted my intent to register and what not, its kind of a sucky situation because as @Surfbort mentioned ill have to sign a lease for Berkeley housing next week before I find out about Yale, leaving me in a bad position if I do end up getting accepted lol
@MikeSauce. Wow… That sucks!
@Dieselboy07 indeed I am! My afternoon interview started early, I was going to wish you well. I cannot wait for the decisions to be made!
@Surfbort I had to accept at my current school months ago because it’s a competitive program and had to secure my spot but have asked for extensions from everywhere else and they have all given me until June 1st. Columbia is the only wild card in that mess because if you don’t do early decision they apparently don’t even start looking at transfers until after 6/1. So here’s hoping to getting accepted at Yale and not having to worry about that!
So another scenario is starting to play out and I wanted to see what the CC folks thought: Both Amherst and Cornell have offered phenomenal FA to finish up my Bachelors. Yale on the other hand will provide financial aid up to tuition, meaning that I will have to expend my Post 9/11 GI Bill completely and stop at undergrad. If I choose Amherst or Cornell, I can save the GI Bill money and go on to grad school. So the big question to you guys is (assuming I get into Yale in the first place) does a Bachelor’s from Yale measure up to a Master’s from anywhere else?
@Surfbort A masters from Cornell is exceptional
I agree - the FA is about the only downside to the EWSP. If you have an opportunity from Cornell that is better financially and will get you a graduate degree, that is definitely the better option. It is still ivy league and a great school and a Master’s is almost always better than a Bachelor’s degree. But you ultimately have to decide what it is that you want long-term and what is the best route to get there. Best of luck!
