Eli Whitney Students Program-2016

So has anyone heard anything yet?

I got an email the other day to turn my FA paperwork in

LOL, me too (maybe we should take that as a good sign?). I know it’s only supposed to be another 8 days but man alive is this killing me!

@mikesauce @immunomom Is this a follow up email asking you guys to submit additional FA paperwork? I received an email about FA a couple days before my interview. That was almost two weeks ago.

I received my email while I was there, they were matching up Eli interviews with FA to make sure everything had been submitted. I think they want to make sure that when they make their decision that everything is in forward motion from that point on.

Yeah that’s probably what it is, I’m not holding my breath so I didn’t turn anything in at first, but that email was pretty persuasive

I’m going stir crazy too. I keep looking at the calendar! Is it the end of May yet?

Every time my phone buzzes I look. It’s going to be a long week!!! I keep hoping maybe they will notify us sooner but it doesn’t seem likely. I haven’t seen if there is anyone still interviewing? But then the committee has to meet, whenever that takes place. We could just go camp out on the couches in the admissions office - they would love that :))

@immunomom Not a peep, and you!?

@Dieselboy07 not a peep here either. Thinking positive thoughts for us!!

Yes positive thoughts! Positive thoughts for us all!

@immunomom @Dieselboy07 I’m actually assuming the worst so that I won’t end up disappointed. I feel like I must have said something dumb during my interview. Can I ask what other choices you have for schools? For me, I was accepted to Berkeley, Amherst, Georgetown, Emory, and waitlisted at Brown. Was rejected from NYU. Go figure.

@ahowooh I was accepted at Penn and Columbia. I only applied to these three. I wasn’t interested in the others. I figured if I didn’t get into them, I would go to UCLA because I live ten minutes away. UCLA is a fine school, but I wanted the best and I wanted it on the east coast.

Don’t beat yourself up over the interview. I’m sure you did well. They’re used to seeing us coming in and flounder through the interview.

I probably didn’t offer the best answer to every question she asked, but I am sure I answered them honestly. I don’t prepare for interviews. If I did it would come off as scripted. I just show up, sit down, have a nice conversation and explain what I’m looking for and why and let it play out to fate.

@Ahowooh do not assume the worst at all - no matter WHAT we are all in the top 20% that got called for an interview. That is huge and that is what I keep reminding myself! I got into several state schools which I’m not really interested in, I just wanted to have options. The ones that I am serious about are University of Cincinnati (where I am currently and have a very nice FA package as well as being able to do research at the college of medicine next year as an undergrad), DePaul is a maybe, Cornell is a definite maybe because their FA includes housing and of course Yale. I am still waiting on an answer from Columbia but am getting frustrated with not hearing from them. They were all over me to do early decision which I couldn’t because I had to retake the ACT. Now I don’t think I’m going to hear from them in time to make my decision! You’ve got some great options, congratulations!!

Did any of you make an effort to demonstrate interest?

I didn’t. It seemed a bit elementary at my age and for the program. I flew out for the interview, however.

You guys also have great choices!

@immunomom yes, I need to remind myself of this. Congrats on Cornel! They also turned me down. I don’t think NY likes me lol.

@ThatGuy87 what do you mean by show interest? As in some sort of a follow up? For me, not at all. Just a simple thank you to my interviewer. I had Rebecca. Were there any male interviewers? I only know of two women.

Thanks! I decided Boston must not like me, I got turned down by both Tufts and Harvard but my letter from Harvard stated that they received over 1500 applications for 12 transfer spots so trying not to feel too badly about that. I am getting so excited for us all! This should be the week we find out!!!
I was wondering the same thing about showing interest. I also just emailed my interviewer and thanked her. I have only heard of the two females, you all have mentioned Rebecca and I had Patricia. Anyone who gets in will love her!

@immunomom I had Debra Johns. She was very sweet and asked me a lot of unexpected but great questions about my time in the military.

It’s driving me crazy to know that the committee already met and decided our fates. Just tell us already!!

@HillaryB it is absolutely terrifying to think about.

Also, please don’t take this the wrong way guys, but I’m feeling nervous about not being a veteran. I feel as though the Eli Whitney Program is almost designed for vets. Both of my student interviewers were also vets. Maybe that’s why I think this way.

I’m being paranoid. Anyway, good luck to everyone again.

I’ll be sure to post the news, good or bad, as soon as possible.

I mean there were a lot of vets who were rejected too
