Eliciting responses? (most creative title I could think of)

White Male Michigan
Large Public HS

My Stats:
3.7 UW GPA
43/440 Rank (once again no weighting, counselor will mention that it would be noticably better if we weighted)
34 ACT (33 math, english, science writing, 36 reading; also got a 33 where I got a 36 science if a school was superscoring, though I realize few do with the ACT)
SAT II's: 780 US History; 740 Physics - taking Math II and Lit saturday
AP: 5 US History, 5 Psychology, 4 English Language, 3 Calc AB
National Merit Semifinalist

EC's:
Football - 9-12 - 30 hours a week in season
Lacrosse - 10-12 - 20 hours a week in season
- Also Winter and Summer lacrosse
Platoons - 9-12 - 10 hours a week - a weightlifting program with the football team
Spanish Club - 9-11 - wildly varying time, mean about 2 hours per week, various volunteering and cultural activities
Volunteering at an English as a Second Laguage center in Detroit approx. 50 hours
NHS - 12 - as that is the only year it is offered

Lack of leadership activities or useless clubs is connected to the fact that most clubs conflict with football and/or require class membership to be a part of them(DECA, Debate, Spanish Club, etc.) and leadership positions are reserved for seniors in almost all clubs with size of school. And I find the student government and the like to be a complete joke at my school, reducing my motivation to get involved.

Senior Classes(semester 1/semester 2):
AP MacroEcon/AP MicroEcon
AP Literature and Composition/same
AP Physics C - both Classical Mechanics and E&M/same
AP US Government
Foods and Nutrition(guilty pleasure)/Calc II(at a local CC)
TIES(a program where you tutor and assist a special needs student, in my case a kid with Muscular Dystrophy)/Psychology of Organizational Behavior(at a local CC)

Essay will be on my experiences with my foreign exchange student from last year.

Major plan - Econ or some variant, or possibly business. Intending on going into business after graduation.

College list:
Williams(ED)
Claremont McKenna
Rice
Northwestern
Middlebury
Pomona
Vanderbilt
University of Michigan
Michigan State

Intentionally high-end heavy, as Michigan is an exceptional 'safety'.

you have no real hooks and are not an academic standout. i dont think youll get into williams. you very well could get in everywhere else, save pomona and maybe middlebury.

30 hours per week in football? Do you have 6 hour practices?
Not being critical I'm just trying to figure it out? It seems like an exaggerataion that admissions would pick up on and if it is not accurate you might want to adjust your resume.

30 hours a week in football - 4:30 hours of practice Monday - Thursday - 18
Gameday - 7 hours
Sunday 2+ hours

So I guess it was an exaggeration, but not by much. 25+ hours would be more accurate. I think I counted 5 days of practice, and didn't adjust for Sundays being shorter.

But pretty much, football sucks. I think our coach usees every minute allowed under state rules. Plus there is usually film for O and D that would be aded, that is in week. So sleep is a foreign word at times in season.

And BrownPlease - That (regretfully) is fairly close to my personal evaluation. Williams is my number 1, so hopefully they'll get caught up in that ED thing.

My thoughts were something along the lines of:
Williams - Reach
CMC - High Match/low Reach
Pomona - Medium Reach
Vandy - Match
Rice - Low Reach
Northwestern - High Match
Middlebury - Low Reach
UM - Safety
MSU - Safety

But that could be a bit optimistic, we'll see.
