I have a question about the eligibility by the examination alone. For the comprehensive review, would any UC give you the full 300 or so points for eligibility by examination alone for the category elc(eligbility in local context) or do you have to be qualified for elc that is top four percent of the class?

Step II - Additional Academic Factors
Eligibility in the Local Context (ELC) 300
Educational Environment 300

This is said in the UCSD comprehensive review.

Can Eligibility by examination alone(3450 points or higher on SAT I and two SAT II) be used instead of ELC? Like if you qualify for by examination alone instead of being in the top 4 percent(ELC), can u be given these 300 points?

I don't think so, and I believe they have different criteria for applicants who meet the eligibility through "Eligibility by Examination Alone".

How does it differ? Like do u kno how many points they give if u qualify for it?

sorry, but elc is based solely on gpa in your HS...top 4% by high school using gpa only. So, zero points for elc.

For the State Eligibility, they add the corresponding points you get for your GPA, SAT scores and other factors. But for Eligibility by Examination Alone, obvious they don't consider your GPA.
