I know Princeton doesn't accept transfer students, but here's my situation: I enrolled and started at another school, but dropped out already, before first semester ended (personal reasons, needed to help family at home) - could I re-apply to Princeton as a freshman?

Sorry, Princeton states if you have “matriculated” (enrolled) at another college, you cannot apply as a freshman. Even thoough you dropped out, you did indeed matriculate. But there are plenty of other schools to look at.

Would they even know the OP matriculated at another school?

yeh, that’s what I’d like to know too

I don’t think they’ll know. If you get in and they find out, you’ll be expelled though. Good luck finding a job/going to grad/professional school then.

The HS guidance counselor would know, and the application has a statement about truthfulness that the applicant signs.
There are hundreds of other great choices, but Princeton is no longer one of them.

I’d apply again as a freshman if I were you. Can’t hurt, and as long as you didn’t drop out of college just so you could “transfer” to Princeton, I’d say you weren’t violating the spirit of Princeton’s transfer policy.
