harvard kids are so obnoxious, they only like you if your parents make more than 200,000 a year. if you aren't into theatre or some super white sport like sailing and ice hocky, you'll never find a place at harvard. seriously, if your family doesn't go back at least 5 generations in this country, you're out of the cool kids group. also, i hear that harvard kids don't eat dining hall food, they're too good for that. they dine out everytime. sometimes they get room service right to their dorm rooms. usually its moroccan or egyptian or south african cusine, but once every week or some, they have some native american cuisine that's flown over oklahoma every week. i also heard that they make abercrombie and fitch look like hobo rags, they are that rich. like all of them have senator daddies or uncles or in-laws.

yea, i am so not going to apply to harvard because of all of this. harvard is a disgusting place full of elitists. :( :( :(

OMG. you people need help.
I made this thread because I am SICK of threads going “omg, are harvard kids snobby?”…EVERY school can be snobby, not snobby, hospitable, hostile, etc etc. you name it. depending on each individual perspective.

I thought the sarcasm was over-the-top obvious. obviously not…

anyways, I was at Harvard’s summer program, so I kinda* got a feel for the atmosphere there and loved it.

I am not discouraging anyone from applying! I am not being measured against you but against myself in the context of my school/environment (I thought everyone knows that by now?) Besides, you people are so intense, even stalking my post history here (coureur) to provide ‘evidence’ of my oh-so-sleazy ways, lol

You people with your “omg, you just trying to get me to not apply! wahhhhhh!” are so sad…

“A Modest Proposal” by Jonathan Swift was taken seriously in its day and for those who have read it, people would scoff at that fact since it suggests cannibalism and infanticide. My point is that satire/sarcasm is not as easily uncovered if its in the written word, especially since the average college-searching student has these exact preconceptions of Harvard.

Elsewhere on CC, I proposed that colleges be ranked according to the number of replies that the front page of their CC boards generate, and I now see that my “modest proposal” has generated 51 responses. Yup . . . our sarcasm detectors may need some work. :p

While you type, you inflect your inner voice to convey the tone that you hope to portray, but this is not that easily recognized through the written word.

I’m appalled at the inaccuracies and misportrayal of harvard in this post. It’s people like you that keep perpetruating harvard’s stereotypes. Only being liked if your parents make over 200,000, what is this, Princeton!? Please, your parents should at least make 500,000. And sailing and ice hockey? I doubt you’ll find many people partaking in these activities as they’ll be too busy playing polo and racing their Ferraris on the weekends.
