Congrats!! I’m still waiting here in PA. Has anyone else heard any news?

I haven’t heard anything yet. Monday is supposed to be the big day!

congrats pinknpreppy! can’t wait til monday.

Just got a letter, made it to the national level along with 499 other students. Does that mean i am guaranteed 4,000. Im so excited. Good luck to all.

I think that does mean that! Congratulations! :-)!

congrats komis2010!

Hi, I received an email congratulating me on becoming an MVS national finalist with directions to complete the next application. I don’t see anywhere where it says that there are only 500 finalists though =/
so how do you guys know that you are guaranteed at least $4,000?

I got the email just now. I am a national finalist! Congrats to Cali and komis! This is awesome!

:)

I got an email today and I was ecstatic! So all the finalists are GUARANTEED 4000?! WOW. This just made my day even better haha! Congratulations to all of us!

Congratulations, you guys! I am still waiting here in Pennsylvania… nervous laugh

Yeah…same here for New Jersey nervous laugh, too lol

Will someone who got selected as national finalist be willing to post stats? Congratulations to all. Also, did you all receive notification that you went on to district or is this notification about nationals the first you have heard since putting in application?

My DS was a national finalist last year. There are 500 total and you are guaranteed 1000 a year for 4 years, thus 4000 total. It could be more…most are 4000 scholarships, though. They are wonderful to work with and the money got to the university very quickly. Congrats to those winners this year.

You can see the breakdown of the winning money here: [Elks National Foundation](Most Valuable Student)

If you guys are National Finalists, you are guaranteed for $4,000 and you compete for the $60,000.

I got the e-mail Friday afternoon. I wonder why they aren’t sending them out as a group? Anyway, it was really awesome of them to send it early (to a few of us at least) so we could relax and celebrate this weekend. I’m sure the competition for the top awards is unbelievable, but at least the secondary application is really short and we’re guaranteed the renewable $1,000.

This is the first I’ve heard from the Elks since I dropped the application off in October, so don’t worry if they didn’t notify you about moving on, it might be a good sign!

Take it easy the rest of the weekend, and best of luck to everybody!!

We didn’t have an essay this year. It’ll be a part of the National Finalist app.

10scholar, with those stats, I won’t be surprised if you place. I wish you the best of luck.

It’s states that notify if you’ve moved on to the national finalists (top 500)… if you don;'t seen anyone from your state confirm they got it, it is even possible that states will not notify you and your first notice will come from the national foundation (I assume relatively soon because there’s a second application this year).

anyone from South Carolina receive notification yet?

Do we get notified either way?

Ohboi, with the lack of communication so far, I highly doubt it.

Anyone from NC heard yet? I wonder what time today I should give up hope…
