Elon vs. Lehigh?

I loved both Elon University and Lehigh University. But, I can't decide which one I want to apply ED to. I felt that Lehigh University has a better reputation for being academically presitigous then Elon. I want to be at a school that challenges me. But, I felt more 'at home' at Elon. If anybody could provide insight on the social life, academics, and the overall differences/ pros and cons of the school to get a better sense of both the schools.

Also: If you could list schools similar to both!

Thanks so much!!

**than sorry

What do you want to major in? As of now, it seems the only thing you are appealed to Lehigh about is their prestige. If that’s the only thing, then I would suggest Elon if you think you’ll enjoy your four years. But perhaps you don’t know the full picture of each of the schools?

Lehigh has great sciences and engineering.

I want to major in Chemistry (that’s why Lehigh draws me in) and possibly go to med- school… not too sure yet. I feel that graduating from Lehigh with a degree in Chemistry than Elon will look better? I am wrong?

Know a student who’s at Elon and is quite happy. It took her til Thanksgiving to get comfy, but she likes it now. She says the town embraces the students; I guess that’s a good thing. An east coast college.

Lehigh has been a frat party school for at least forty years. Strong in STEM and business. Lovely campus and library. On a hillside above the town. A good uni with a good rep in the northeastern quadrant of the country.

Thank you! Which one do you think has better academics? Also do you know what Elon’s social life is like?

I don’t know Elon well enough to say, OP.

Similar schools in NE. Bucknell, franklin and marshall, ursinus, lafayette, bryn mawr, haverford, swarthmore, lots in NY state, several in MA, colby, bates

Similar schools in the south. davidson, washington and lee, richmond, wofford, furman, sewanee, rollins, stetson, rhodes, birmingham southern, millsaps, hendrix, centre, lynchburg, roanoke, guilford, high point

I am familiar with both schools and would choose Lehigh for Chemistry. I think Lehigh is more challenging academically. The social cultures have many similarities, the notable difference being the northern v southern vibe. Although there are plenty of northerners at Elon.

Looking strictly at the net costs, it appears Lehigh is the better option. Elon is known not to provide the best merit aid packages.

If Elon feels like home to you than pick Elon. Lehigh of course is more well known and superior at chemistry than Elon, however Elon is really well known in the state of north carolina so you could easily go to UNC, Duke, Wake, or ECU med school (ECU only if you’re a carolinian). Elon has a good social life and if you want to get a job in the raleigh-durham area elon would be perfect. I don’t know a ton of people at Elon but everyone i know who went absolutely loved it. It’s such a pretty school. As with Lehigh, it’ll obviously be more strenuous, but that’s ok! Lehigh could probably get you a job in different areas of the country because the school is so well connected. Unfortunately I know nothing about Lehigh other than it’s a great STEM school.

What part of the country do you hail from?

A know two girls from SoCal, one at Elon and the other at Lehigh. Both are socially outgoing young women. The student at Lehigh finds it easier to fit in. The student at Elon is struggling with the distinct Southern culture at Elon. They both have a long runway ahead of them, so take this anecdotal information as limited and lacking sufficient sample size.
