mjf..agreed, but just in case don't get your hopes up too high.
My D has an uw 94 average with all honors and ap's, 1410 old sat & 2050 new, vp of nhs, captain for 2 years of varsity team, school paper and community service. Her recs and essays were excellent.
She got scholarships from Miami, American, Ithaca & Marist, for the life of me can't understand a waitlist from Syracuse.

yea yankeegirl, without sounding too cocky, i think there is something wrong with the decisions link. we will see, anyone know when they sent out the last of their paper stuff?

My letter had a wl in the url, but it was really even worse. I got rejected from Newhouse and waitlisted for Arts and Sciences

I tend to agree with you guys. I was expecting to get accepted although maybe not to Newhouse.
I have a 1460/1600 (2170/2400) SAT and a 3.58w at a competetive high school.

I got a second email from "orange" aka SU at today 11 am EST, saying that I was waitlisted (in the body of the email), which was what the electronic letter from the first email said (when I replaced the link). So mjf1287, I'm pretty sure what the letter says is the final word, unfortunately. :(

Thought I would have gotten in too; I was waitlisted

3.8UW GPA
27 ACT
Great ECs (was noted that on my RPI acceptance); Great Recommendations

oh man, that sucks, its alright i guess

its a beautiful thought that the link could be wrong... though trying not to get the hopes up. i knew newhouse is obviously way tough but i thought id atleast get into cas (waitlisted)

sats: 1480/2160
gpa: 3.5 uw 4.8 w
rank: 82/474 (i know the gpa/rank isnt fabulous but i thought my other things and the fact that i had 14 honors/ap over the years would make up for it..)
ec: 2 varsity sports (soccer, track), sports editor school newspaper, nhs... etc, some other school and outside activities, work experience and community service.
the essays and recs were good, i went to an interview and the admissions rep said she was going to give me a great recommendation

its definately been a rough day but maybe there are miracles in the world. good luck to everyone

I got waitlisted too (according to the email). I thought I was going to get in with a 3.95, community service, and being the EIC of one of the top yearbooks in the nation. So much for being an orangewoman...:(

Weird, I didn't get a second email. My stats are right around those of wicked nervous and njbrynn and I also did not expect to get flat out rejected from Newhouse. Kids from my school who were less qualified than I am got into Newhouse last year. I know a year changes a lot, but not even getting into A&S is very surprising.

Rejected from BFA Acting-waitlisted to Arts and Sciences?

I didn't think I put down a secondary school!

3.6W GPA
30 ACT
1300 SAT- 2010 W/Writing
Lots of acting credits- including starting a program where my drama club goes to the elementary schools and uses drama to try and stop things like teasing and trys to start discussions on social issues like bullying.
Great Recs- my guidance councelor loves me.

Where did I go wrong enough to be waitlisted in A+S? Besides, Im pretty sure I didn't even ask to be considered there.

email said i was waitlisted too, (architecture program), i had a 1910, a 87 average, and a great portfolio

lovejini, when you received your email from orange, did it come after you clicked the link selecting to be on the waiting list?
I got that email right after i clicked the link.

Wow..I can't believe the stats of all those waitlisted. Either there is a huge mistake or 'Cuse is worried about "Tufts Syndrome" and doesn't think you will attend.

yeah, the "Tufts Syndrome" is pretty evident

That thought crossed my mind, and it would make sense if I had just applied to LAS. Newhouse, however is one of the best communication schools in the country. There is no way they could think I was using it as a saftey. I didn't think I was underqualified enough to not even make the waitlist though. Oh well.

wicked nervous, I didn't get the second email right after clicking on the link of the first. The first one came around 5 p.m. on 03/24, the second one around 11 a.m. on 03/25. I'm thinking the admissions office noticed the problem with the link and sent out second emails, with the decision right in the body text. Although, that doesn't explain the people who didn't receive a second email....hmm :/

Those of you who got waitlisted have some really good stats. I am wondering if this is really a "Tufts Syndrome" issue, or it reflects on the large number of applications that SU has received this year.

ive never heard of the tufts syndrome but im assuming its when they reject you because they think youre using them as a safety. however alot of the people on this thread are for newhouse and i dont think newhouse could be anyones safety. im wondering now if maybe there actually is a mistake since EVERYONE got the same email and ive seen people on this forum get into newhouse with 1250 or so sats and around a 3.4 gpa. so even though i (and im sure everyone else) was freaking out all yesterday, i think we should wait for the thing to come in the mail to officially freak out

MSM...I agree, except that if you look at the stats on the accepted students thread, almost all of them are lower that those here that got waitlisted. Even if it reflects the large number of apps, why waitlist those with higher stats than those admitted? I wouldn't think that everyone had some sort of a hook, but those on this thread didn't. How random this whole admissions thing is.
NJBRYN...my daughter also applied to Newhouse, she visited there and interviewed here in NYC. I can't imagine them thinking she wasn't interested in attending, but so far that's the only explanation we can think of.
