<p>My son got an email from Tulane today about the study abroad programs. That would have been nice, except the email was addressed to Anthony B----, which is not HIS name but rather the name of his deceased father.</p>
<p>(btw, his father could NEVER have gotten into Tulane. ;)</p>

<p>That really is odd. And a totally new one, I never heard that before. I would contact the originator of that email and make sure there wasn’t a more core data entry error in the Tulane database, although I would think if there was you would have seen it before. More likely someone picked the wrong database field as the addressee for this email.</p>
<p>It came from Hannah Udell! The weirdest part is that it came to MY email address (I don’t usually receive any of the Tulane mailings there). My son also got the same email to his personal gmail, and that one had the correct name.</p>
<p>We got that e-mail today too. My husband got one with his name on it and my daughter got one with her name. They often send e-mails to the parents, so maybe the one you got was intended for the parents.</p>
<p>Ah, so it wasn’t an error except that they used the deceased father’s name on the email to mavitale instead of her name. That was a most unfortunate mistake. I wonder if that was a programming error or if there is a mistake in their records about that.</p>
<p>I (the mom) got that email too, but the salutation was directed to my husband. D2 got her own email.</p>
<p>THAT is a bizarre practice, then (addressing to the husband). I did write directly to Hannah about it so hopefully she can get it fixed. Thanks guys.</p>
<p>She sent me an EFFUSIVE apology… I felt kind of bad, actually. But then I felt like asking them for $5K in make-up money. LOL</p>
<p>I did mention that it’s weird to address to the husband in any case, in 2013.</p>
<p>I am glad she was appropriately responsive. It is strange and disappointing to hear stories on some of the other boards about adcoms that are almost hostile. Sometimes not even almost. It seems that Tulane has a pretty good group, at least from the bulk of feedback I have heard and seen. It’s a tough job, I think.</p>
<p>It’s possible D2 listed MY email address if they asked for her dad’s since D2 knows he is not involved the college craziness and wouldn’t know an adcom if he fell on him/her (or even what an adcom is!!)</p>
