"Generally the scores from the January sitting of the SAT will arrive to us too late to be used for consideration for freshman admission. However, if you feel strongly about applying this year you can take the test and make sure that the scores are rushed to us. "

Was the response I received when asking if I could send in a SAT score past their deadline because their website said that if rushed, sometimes they will take late scores...

But, it sounds really "iffy" to me. Does rushing just mean "express mail?" ? And does it sound like they will consider me even with my late score? I can't really tell.. sending in these late scores doesn't sound very dependable to me..

I will have an SAT mark by the deadline, but I know I will have a better score the second time around. Should I not submit this score, then rush my second score? Or should I submit my first one, and then rush the second one? I just feel like 'not' having a score sent in will kind of give them more of a need to accept my later score...

I hope this makes sense. I'm slightly panicking. Thank you!

I was in the same position as you a month ago, I’ll try to make it simple:

Most colleges receive your scores online, they don’t use the paper copy that comes in the mail. The paper copy is what is rushed. They will receive your scores at the same time online regardless of whether they are rushed or not.

The fastest way to get your scores to a college is list them as a recipient when you register/before you receive your scores. If you list them as a recipient, they will receive your scores the same day that you do. If you wait to look at your scores, then send them, it could take an extra week.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but this is my understanding of how it works.

As for whether or not to send both- if you are using the CommonApp, list the date for your next test so they know to expect more scores.
It is better to be safe and send both scores, in case they don’t receive your next scores in time to consider your application.

Thank you, that answered everything clearly!! I’m real nervous for the SATs… I kind of know I wont do too well… So having a second date to prepare for will definitely help me
