@hollromes. My S just got accepted Undeclared to honors with Trustee Scholarship. The honors acceptance was in the scholarship link right below admission decision. Really excited for him although not sure where he will end up.
@isaf33 what major are you applying into?? when i called admissions, they said that i got that email because they were dealing with stuff with the performing arts department. i’m applying for the musical theater bfa!!
@leerahandstitch
I applied for Writing, Literature and Publishing so I guess the problem isn’t only with the performing arts department like they said. I have had all the materials in for my application since the early action deadline and my application status says complete. The admissions representative I emailed yesterday claimed it is a technical error, but that was before I received the email saying my application was “incomplete” an hour or so ago from the director of admissions. To be honest the whole issue is making me reconsider the school as whole.
@isaf33 i’m so sorry!! for me, they said that they had to straighten things out with the performing arts department and that there was nothing wrong on my end, but it was getting close to their closing time, so i didn’t get the chance to ask them to explain why i got that email in the first place!! i’ll be calling them in the evening to ask. this is what is kind of frustrating for me - i either have to stay up late or wake up early in order to reach them!!
unlike you, i had some issues in the past with getting some stuff in since i’m an international student, but i thought it was all fixed a month or so ago. from my experience, emerson’s been really helpful when it comes to dealing with these problems, so i thought it was fine!! they were much more helpful than many of my other colleges. but, apparently not. my application status also still says that it’s complete in the portal, so i’m praying that everything will be fine. crossing my fingers for both you and me!!
Just got into the Journalism program!! But they said I would hear about the merit scholarships in the spring?? Ugh i’m nervous about waiting that long to see if I even get any money!
Accepted into the Journalism Program! Although I have already committed to my first choice, I figured I should post my stats so that I can help other people looking for some actual examples!
W: 6.6/7 UW: 3.92
Fairly rigorous schedule with all honors except math
SAT: 2060 (CR:650 W:690 M:720)
My resume consisted of various extracurriculars with many leadership postions. The list included mostly four years of each:
NHS, Spanish HS, ITS, Theatre, Broadcasting, Newspaper, Community Service, College programs, Tennis, Choir/A Cappella, a political internship
My essays were pretty strong: One was about how I struggled to maintain my identity as a poor minority student in a stuffy rich catholic school. Another was about how I stepped out of my comfort zone in order to expand my perspectives (aka I was very involved in the arts but being involved in sports taught me that the world has so much to offer). Another was about why I wanted to pursue journalism (to evoke change). On my final one I took a risk that I think really paid off.
All in all I received tentatively about 41,000+ in aid per year plus an extra 5,000 scholarship. The only qualm is that I didn’t get into the honors program!
While I am not attending, I wish the best of luck to all current/future applicants! I’ll see you in Boston!
Did anybody that filled out the CSS profile get any information with their decision? I didn’t know what it was until yesterday and now I feel terrible for missing that deadline! I hope I can still apply. Also congrats to everyone else that got in!!! I love Emerson
Got an email saying that my app was incomplete as well! Kinda sent my counsellor and I into a frenzy, but I’ve then received an email saying that it’s a technological error from the admissions office and that the email has been sent to everyone who’s app hasn’t been reviewed yet. Gonna get a decision by the end of next week! Congrats to everyone who got in
hello, late to the thread, but I was wondering if the financial aid listed is the only aid we are going to get…I unfortunately didn’t get much and I was wondering about y’all.
Hey guys! I’m sort of late but I got in early as a Media Arts Production major within the Department of Visual and Media Arts. I was supposed to get a scholarship but something weird happened with my financial aid docs so I think I might have to wait until the spring to hear back about scholarships.
