Okay so that means that James Franco, Natalie Portman, Shakira, Brooke Shields, etc. don’t deserve their degrees or places in their graduating classes? That’s ridiculous. If Brown thinks she’s qualified, then guess what: She’s qualified for Brown. I personally think that her life outside of HP has proven that she is a smart girl, so it’s not so unbelievable.

And to the poster who asked why she was coming here:
“…in July 2009, she confirmed that she was planning to study liberal arts in the United States saying that – having missed so much school as a child for filming – the “broad curriculum” of American higher education appealed to her more than British universities, ‘where you have to just choose one thing to study for three years’”

Yay! Thats why I like American education as well! The only problem with it is that you end up with some ridiculous-sounding classes, and an eventual decision to make…

on a side note, princess leia is considered among star wars fans to be notoriously um not that good looking. hermoine granger, on the other hand…

On some other forum, someone posted a thread asking about his chances of getting into Yale, but the post didn’t provide much information. The first reply simply asked, “are you awesome?”

And I think the discussion here about Emma Watson’s undeniably awesome extracurriculars more or less justifies this question. Perhaps the age-old question of what is required to get into Ivy League schools has a very simple answer: how awesome are you? :D

Being a “movie star” is much, much more difficult than what I think some of you are making it sound like… it’s not all fun and games, after all. I think she really deserves to go there, even though I applied to Brown and got rejected, haha I admire her for juggling all those crazy things on her plate, and still coming out with academics at the top of her priorities

I’m hoping this is the reasoning for some people stating that Brown will be receiving more applications rather than just to be at the same school with a semi-famous person.

Having the school’s name in the press is going to boost the number of applications no matter what. Brown would have been stupid to turn down Emma Watson. Not only is she a likely highly qualified student with her EC’s, but her attendance at the univerisity will likely raise, if only slightly, Brown’s applicant pool.
