My test scores and GPA were nothing special and didn’t standout particularly; but my common app and personal essays were fire. I had one excellent recommendation, one great recommendation, and one more on the generic side. I talk with the New England REP a little bit and exchanged emails. I attend a competitive private prep school in MA =).

Good luck to all the regular and ED II applicants for Emory!
Accepted to main campus!
Am I the only one who can’t find the link to pay the deposit on OPUS? It is not under my ‘admissions’ section in Student Center… And there really is nothing on my OPUS besides my address and contact info… Is this normal?
@Rinora I’m sorry you didn’t get accepted : ( Would it be okay if I ask you to dm your stats? My dream school is Emory also and I want to compare stats with others if you don’t mind. Thank you
@Alexandersss and @anxiousteen : Welcome to Emory. Glad to see a couple of folks with a little “nerd” (Robotics? Niceeee!!) in them having Emory as a first choice. Emory seriously needs more of y’all. Congratulations. And don’t downplay your accomplishments. They shape you in some way and definitely influence what you can contribute to campus life or even a classroom or lab. They need not be award winning yet to have a large impact in the future. You should view Emory as the opportunity to increase the impact of what you are passionate about. That is why they invited you.
What is the link to the Emory blog
Where is the Emory blog
hi guys, how do you join the facebook group?
i requested, but it is still pending
Congrats everybody! @Alexandersss I know some climbers on the Oxford Campus, including a professor, who are always looking for climbing pals. (I am a parent of a current Oxford Student)
The admitted students website isn’t working for me
Is the admitted students website working for you guys?
Congrats on the acceptances! Im planning on either doing early decision 2 or regular decision but I’m not sure which one. ( I have a low sat and a good gpa) Does anyone have any tips on choosing and happen to know what the acceptance is for each? Also, do you think someone who is applying for low demand/uncommon major, are they more or less likely to get in? Sorry for all the questions I’m just so anxious.
ED2 and regular decision have very similar acceptance rates, but I assume that ED2 would be the difference between a waitlist and an acceptance. It wouldn’t make change a rejection into an acceptance. Everyone who applies to Emory is admitted into the College of Arts and Sciences so I doubt the major has any affect on acceptance rate, compared to other schools who would place uncommon/low demand majors into different schools within the college.
To answer your question, apply ED2 if financial aid isn’t a concern for you since it won’t matter how much they give you. If it is a concern, then I would apply regular decision.
I think ED2 and RD applications are basically reviewed at the same time, but ED2 gives you a slight edge because Emory knows if they accept you, you will attend vs an RD applicant who may be weighing multiple offers. Accepting an ED student helps the school protect its yield (percent of accepted students who enroll). I think an uncommon major for the school is also a slight edge as you are not competing against a deep pool of applicants (pre med, pre law etc) with similar interests.
@chemmchimney : I bet that uncommon major is maybe a slight edge IF it is not coupled with common ECs (especially those associated with those expressing interests in common majors).
The difference is that if you are pre-med, pre-law or pre-MBA, you are competing against a much deeper pool and the school does need to be sure that the kids accepted in each major can get the core classes they need for their chosen field, so although students are not accepted into a particular major, the school will weigh this as part of your application as they only have so many seats in those intro classes. Alternatively, less popular majors need to admit enough likely majors to keep the program healthy and fill a full schedule of classes. On the other hand, it doesn’t really hurt Emory if they have too many kids who were in model UN; clubs can expand or contract to fit the student body without any real impact on the university.
@chemmchimney : Also, too many model UN kids can segway into those students representing the university well in other capacities which never hurts. The major thing is a dicey one at a place like Emory especially with pre-health where introductory section sizes are smaller and auditorium space is limited(emory is not built for jumbo size courses…only like 2 auditoriums in the college can support it).
I applied RD but want to know when the open house days are so I can plan it (hopefully I’ll get in!). Can someone posts the dates as I’ve read they are included in your admit letter?
