American admitted everyone to Honors except you had to apply and few did. Gaffes seem to happen. It’s scary as we are entrusting these schools with thousands but it is what it is. I didn’t think the waitlist letter was very nice. But these colleges aren’t going to kiss up to the people that won’t be paying them.
Same for me.
Don’t think there was any correlation: Accepted and had 5 (one of them being the ACT/SAT test scores)
But does Emory not cover 100% of need-based? Or, are you in that unfortunate fortunate twilight situation where you don’t qualify for needs-based but your family would rather not pay for tuition? Either way, congratulations on your admission and all the BEST wherever you decide to go!
Submitted: single test SAT 1590
no interview but got in
Same. Accepted but won’t be going. Someone deserving from the WL should be able to get in.
Did not demonstrate a whole lot of interest although did a campus tour right before COVID hit last year.
I did not submit any testing, no.
I don’t think Emory takes demonstrated interest into consideration. I didn’t attend any information sessions nor email my counselor, and submitted my application 6 days after the deadline (submitted on Jan. 7th), yet was accepted.
I thought that part was so funny!!! Did ur daughter also have “Should your interest in Emory University continue, you can apply to Emory College again as a transfer student after completing two full semesters of college coursework in a degree-seeking program.” at the end of the letter? Just trying to gauge if they actually want me to attempt or if theyre just saying that lol
Good luck for the waitlist to you too!
While not all that important since will not be joining Emory, haven’t received any eamils about FA. Can you please share as to when you received the FSA email. Thanks!
Wow, they must have really liked you! Thought the window automatically closes once the deadline is past - this is something new!

I doubt it mattered much, but my grandfather did his master’s at Emory, so I had a minor legacy connection. I’m also from a tiny state in a region that sends very few students to the university, so that probably helped me a little.
Got waitlisted, how many students were waitlisted this year? what should I do next?
It looks like a lot. Make sure to accept your position on the waitlist if you’re interested!
All - they know not everyone who accepts is going. If there yield is 33%, they know 2 of 3 are not going. The WL likely won’t be used until May.
This year is crazy- they don’t know what to expect. I’m not reading of too many rejections on this board. Lots of WL. I assume many got rejected, most in fact. Perhaps they are not just posting.
On average, they admit 62 WL a year (per the website). But this is not an average year.
Yes, Emory doe not take DI in…and they now (first time) superscore the act.
