I am from South Florida. I applied Emory and Oxford Scholars RD. As of now Emory is my first choice, even tough I haven’t had the chance to visit yet. I am really excited to see my scholars decision, however I am not expecting much. I didn’t apply to any Ivy schools. I applied to Tulane, University of Miami, University of Florida, USF and a small private college in Florida. Best of Luck to Everyone!! =)

I live just outside Atlanta. I applied to Emory, Vanderbilt, Furman, Auburn, and UGA. Emory is my top choice because I want a very specific major that Emory is really highly ranked in and not many other schools provide. I hope I get the Scholars thing, but if I don’t I’d like to go anyways. Good luck everyone!

It’ll be stiff competition. The three people who applied for the Scholars program from my high school are all pretty tough to compare…I wonder how Emory selects and if Emory will select multiple semifinalists from each high school.

I also applied to Tulane and U of Miami!

Lol, just read through past applicants’ stats. Their SATs are so high, and I can’t even compare lol

I don’t know if they will consider multiples from the same school…but I learned today that two of the kids that received counselor rec’s for Emory Scholars from my school were already accepted ED at other schools. However, they didn’t bother to inform Emory because they just wanted to see if they would get the Scholars offer from Emory - even though they know they are legally bound to other schools. Since there ranks are higher than mine, I figure I’m totally screwed. Sucks for me.

There were two Emory Scholars full ride winners from our public high school in 2008. One took it, the other went with the Robertson at Duke. At the time, the senior class was over 700 students. Since then a new high school opened and senior class is only around 300. Both students were full IB Diploma, National AP scholars, 4.0+students, amazing EC’s , over 2300+ SAT’s etc.
It is very competitive! Good Luck to everyone!

So, any wagers on when it’s gonna be? I’m thinking it’s going to be Friday or Saturday, but that’s not keeping me from checking back every hour!

Last year it was the 22nd but that was because there was a snowstorm… it really could be any minute.

@cait14 hey just interested, why’d you apply to Auburn University over the University of Alabama… did AU have a specific major or something? feel free to pm me.
thanks in advance :D

Did Emory request mid-semester grades from any of you? I just realized that my semester grades aren’t complete yet (finals week right now) and they didn’t request mine…meaning that they wouldn’t have any grades from this year. That doesn’t sound right…

So I am having trouble signing into OPUS today, and figure they must be doing something now. Is anyone else having trouble?

Sorry to say that I logged in without any problem a few minutes ago. Nothing there, but after looking at SAT/ACT scores from previous years I figure I’m out of this mix anyway.

Has anyone heard anything? I cannot log on opus since morning. my brother is at Emory and he is able to use opus. for sure they are working on posting the results.

^I just logged onto OPUS, so that’s not true.

You’d think they would inform us by email when the decision will be ready. All my other schools have done that.

never mind. I was finally able to log on. I have heard that those who make it in the first batch of semifinalist are notified via opus and later through mail.

I’m from Ga and alot of people I know had really great experiences at Auburn, plus I had visited with older siblings and really liked it. My scores qulaified me for alot of scholarships and they had something close to what I wanted, but it’s not exactly what I wanted. I think Emory would be a better fit, but I’m keeping my options open for now.

What is the average ACT score for an Emory Scholars Semifinalist?

Ok, I just called Emory and asked them when we find out.
The person repsponded that on a friday we will be emailed with instructions on how to find out. She said on A friday, so my guess is the 20th, worst case the 27th.

thanks for calling…and letting us know

yeah thanks FinallyMoving!
