<p>If we get a partial scholarship, is that amount subtracted from our financial aid package? or does it hurt the amount of aid we get?</p>
<p>I think a merit scholarship would be subtracted from your financial aid. There is a certain number they are trying to provide, so the merit aid would provide some of it – and financial aid the rest.</p>
<p>I also looked into that same question, stars, and I believe that the scholarship would first cover your workstudy and summer contribution (so that you don’t have to do those) and would then eat into your financial aid.</p>
<p>I also don’t know if it’s really the 20th. That’s just how it worked out last year.</p>
<p>So anyone hear anything about when we find out?</p>
<p>I emailed Emory about the Emory Scholars release date and got this response:</p>
<p>"The Emory Scholars Semi-Finalists will be announced on January 31, 2013. Please check your OPUS account for updates on this date. "</p>
<p>Not sure if 1/31 will be the actual date (seems kinda late based on previous years) or if the person was just quoting standard “late January” language for now until they get closer to the date. </p>
<p>Anyone heard of an earlier Jan. 2013 date? Hope so.</p>

<p>someone in last year’s thread posted “I just received an email that said we find out about both Emory and Goizueta Scholars on Jan. 31st at 7 pm. Good Luck everyone.” on the 20th and the decisions came out on the 20th so it might be earlier this year</p>
<p>I applied to the Emory Scholars Program! I am absolutely in love with Emory and it’s my top choice 
If I come to Emory, I will be running on the cross country and track team! Also, I’m from California and plan to major on Spanish and Biology (on the Pre-Med track). I’m so excited/nervous to hear about the Emory Scholars semi-finalist decisions… does anyone know of the admissions office is sending out emails on the 20th?</p>

<p>anyone have any updates? im actually sort of hoping they come out later because i was hoping to get my 7th semester transcript in, which raised my gpa by .07. I’m fearing rejection anyways because my GPA holds me back a bit (I have a gigantic upward trend, though). If not, oh well, it will help me for regular decision</p>
<p>hadn’t thought of that before, atoms, but you’re totally right that now I should be hoping that it’s next Friday and not tomorrow! that way I’d feel like the midterms this week weren’t a big waste.</p>
<p>I spoke with an Admissions Representative today and she said that notifications would go out on 1/31.</p>

<p>I assume you mean for Emory Scholars only? In past years, applicants who were nominated for Goizueta Scholars, or both Emory and Goizueta Scholars were notified a couple of weeks later.</p>
<p>I hope it’s a little sooner than the 31st. I’m guessing next week personally</p>

<p>Also, did anyone receive confirmation from Emory that you’re being considered for Emory Scholar? For all I know, Emory may not have even received the nomination and essays from my college counselor.</p>

<p>i never got a confirmation but a while back on my OPUS my nomination form and essay were on my to-do list so as long as your counselor sent them i think you’re fine</p>
