Emory University / Oxford College Class of 2023 Thread

My daughter was accepted ED and never was offered an interview.

Can you guys check your portal? On mine everything is normal but on my phone under mid year transcript it gives me EMPID which means employment ID??? Does this mean anything!!

thats always been there

Word on the street said the acceptance rate is ~15% for Emory, and ~18% for Oxford. However, you didn’t hear it from me.

@emorynavy I wouldn’t be surprised if ~15% is Emory’s acceptance rate but I would predict Oxford’s to be in the low 20s.
Anyways, I was thinking that one thread (this one or the Class of 2023 one) should be used for decisions tomorrow since things can get jumbled up.

@TheTennisNinja
Ox was 24% last year so technically it was already low 20’s. But we’ll see, not sure if 15% sounds right either.
I don’t see why @skieurope cant merge?

Should I be worried if I’m URM and I didn’t get invited into essence? Lol

@guyfierifan
maybe, …did you apply to Oxford? Either way, your chances decreased.

are students with certain prospective majors more likely to be accepted to oxford rather than emory?

Ladies and Gentlemen, Emory’s application deadline is fast approaching. January 1st 11:59pm EST
This thread is for any current SENIORS or knowledgeable Emory affiliates to discuss interest, concerns, chance me’s, etc.
For “Chance Me’s” please use this format.

College of Choice: Emory College or Oxford College or Both

Decision Plan : ED2 or RD

Major(s) of Interest:

Location: (State and or Country)

Gender:

Race/Ethnicity:

Recruited Athlete, or Legacy:

Any other interesting Info: ( Have a criminal record, Started a band, Dad is Tom Brady etc)

Good Luck everyone, and remember you’ll end up where you belong.

I’ve merged. I’m not sure why there were 2. If there was a good reason, it’s too late now.

I don’t set up threads, but my recommendation is that someone set up a “Class of 2023 Decisions Only” thread, following this example used on other college subfora:
http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/community-forum-issues/2129597-update-the-admission-decision-template.html#latest

Why did this discussion suddenly blow up?

@bygbyrd I think it’s because people are nervous tbh.

It’s because two threads were merged haha

@emorynavy those percentages wouldn’t be a big surprise as they were heading in that direction anyway. Applications are up and they are probably doing some self correcting on expected yield based on Class of 2022 accepted spots. By the way, other than ED1, it’s almost impossible to chance anyone and people who have the 1600 SATs with the 3.98s really shouldn’t post for validation.

For next year, there should be pinned topics in the following four areas: (1) ED1, (2) ED2, (3) Scholars, and (4) RD.

@ljberkow : Overall applications are up again? Really? I thought only ED rounds may have gone up. Either way, giving extremely favorable chances to “perfect” stats should have been over years ago. Save it for schools that are primarily aiming to have nearly perfect SAT ranges perhaps in lieu of other things.

@bernie12
We could have it all you know ( kidding), and the applicant pools for ED rounds will never increase that much. Even Hopkins only has about 2500 apps ED.
@ljberkow
I wouldn’t be surprised by anything at this point. I just hope they don’t over enroll again! But for the applicant I responded to, I’m sure Emory released most of the URM decisions already. You can see on social media the folks that have gotten in RD were URM.

Imagine Emory have around 30000 apps this year without an engineering department. UChicago is the only other school that can do that. If Emory develops some engineering or expands QTM we could easily be the most applied to school in the state, as we aren’t too far off now. Really impressive.

Hi, @Bernie12. Does having siblings presently attending affect applicant’s chances?
Thank you.

Does anyone know what time decisions come out tomorrow?
